TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

We had a field vehicle that needed to be moved from one project location to another. The transport was from Corpus Christi to El Paso. I got quotes from four or five different logistics companies. Sherpa was one of the cheapest and I wanted to go with them because they offered $300 to cover any unexpected fees from the driver. Every single one of those other logistics carrier companies was calling me and emailing me nonstop saying that Sherpa wouldn’t do it and that they weren’t going to get somebody for that price. But Sherpa ended up meeting our expectations at the price I was quoted and not a dollar more.

The driver was very nice and he checked our car before he loaded it in the moving truck from Arizona to Texas. He checked it very thoroughly and very carefully. He was also very patient talking to us because we had a lot of questions since it was the first time we had Sherpa as a moving company to transport a car. When he got his car, I told him to check it because I took a picture as well as a video of the car before we handed it to the driver. So, everything came out perfectly.

I had purchased a car from Texas and I needed it transported to me here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Sherpa was within $100 of the typical cost to bring it up. Their service representative gave me a price, and I told him I had a price similar to that, but a little less. First, he gave me all of their credibility as far as how they go about their business, and then the insurance of the car. It all worked out fine. The man that delivered was a super guy. He really handled the car well, he was polite, and I would definitely recommend him again.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Arizona to Texas Shipping Prices

Distance

Arizona to Texas shipping costs increase with distance. Routes from Phoenix to El Paso are shorter and cheaper, while Phoenix to Houston covers over 1,000 miles, resulting in higher transportation expenses.

Route

Major corridors like I-10 connecting Phoenix to Texas cities offer lower shipping rates due to high carrier traffic. Remote Arizona towns require detours from main highways, increasing costs significantly.

Season

Summer and winter see peak demand for Arizona-Texas routes as people relocate to escape extreme weather. Spring and fall typically offer lower rates with more flexible scheduling options available.

Vehicle Type

Compact cars ship cheaper than SUVs or trucks on the Arizona-Texas route. Larger vehicles require more trailer space, consume additional fuel, and some carriers can’t accommodate oversized pickups or commercial trucks.

Traffic Considerations

Holiday periods like Thanksgiving week create highway congestion between Arizona and Texas. Scheduling shipments during mid-month weekdays avoids peak traffic, reducing delays and potentially lowering costs through faster delivery times.

Carrier Availability

Peak seasons require booking Arizona-Texas transport several weeks ahead due to high demand. Off-season shipments often secure carriers within days, offering faster service and sometimes better negotiated rates.

Open vs Enclosed

Open trailers cost significantly less for Arizona-Texas shipping and suit most vehicles. Enclosed transport protects luxury or classic cars from desert dust and road debris but increases costs substantially.

Population Density

Shipping to major Texas hubs like Dallas or Houston costs less than remote areas. Consider meeting carriers in accessible suburbs rather than congested downtown areas to reduce delivery fees and scheduling complications.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Timing matters when shipping from Arizona to Texas. Avoid peak snowbird season (October-April) when demand surges. Booking just a few weeks outside busy periods can significantly reduce your costs and ensure faster carrier availability.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Flexible pickup and delivery windows save money. Offering carriers a five-day window instead of fixed dates gives them routing flexibility, reducing your costs. This simple adjustment can lead to competitive rates while still meeting your timeline.

Hub City Advantages

Choose pickup and delivery locations near major highways like I-10 or I-40. Highway-accessible cities attract more carriers, creating competitive pricing. Shipping to rural Texas? Consider delivery to a nearby hub city to reduce costs significantly.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed options and work well for most vehicles. Your car ships safely alongside others, exposed to weather but fully insured. Reserve enclosed trailers for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles needing extra protection.

HOW IT WORKS

How does Car Shipping from Arizona to Texas Work?

Picturesque view of Texas

Car shipping from Arizona to Texas is a straightforward process that covers an average distance of 960 miles. When you choose Sherpa Auto Transport for your Arizona to Texas car shipping needs, we handle every detail to ensure your vehicle arrives safely and on time. The auto transport process begins with getting a quote and booking your shipment, followed by vehicle pickup at your Arizona location, secure transport across state lines, and final delivery to your Texas destination.

This popular interstate route benefits from excellent highway infrastructure, primarily using I-10 which connects major cities like Phoenix, Tucson, El Paso, San Antonio, and Houston. The well-traveled nature of this corridor means more frequent carrier availability and competitive pricing. Most Arizona to Texas car shipping services offer both open and enclosed transport options, with prices typically ranging from $775 to $1400 depending on your vehicle type, transport method, and specific pickup and delivery locations.

The car shipping process starts when you request a quote and provide details about your vehicle and preferred dates. Once you book, we assign a professional carrier and schedule pickup within your chosen timeframe. Before pickup, you’ll complete a vehicle inspection with the driver, documenting the current condition. Your car is then loaded onto the transport carrier and secured for the journey. Throughout transit, your vehicle is protected and monitored until it reaches Texas.

The typical timeline for auto transport from Arizona to Texas ranges from 1-4 days, depending on the exact cities involved and current carrier schedules. Border city routes like Phoenix to El Paso may take just 1-2 days, while longer distances such as Flagstaff to Houston might require 3-4 days. Weather conditions are generally favorable year-round on this route, though summer heat and occasional monsoons in Arizona should be considered when planning your shipment dates.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Arizona to Texas Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

When planning Arizona to Texas car shipping, understanding the regulatory differences between these states helps ensure a smooth transition. Texas requires new residents to register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency, while Arizona allows 15 days. The registration process in Texas involves obtaining a vehicle inspection at an authorized facility before you can complete your registration, unlike Arizona’s more streamlined approach.

Vehicle regulations differ significantly between the two states. Texas does not require emissions testing for most counties, though some urban areas like Houston and Dallas do mandate inspections. Arizona requires emissions testing in certain counties including Maricopa and Pima. For window tinting, Texas allows 25% light transmission on front side windows, while Arizona permits any darkness with a medical exemption or 33% for the front side windows. Texas also has specific regulations on vehicle frame height modifications that are stricter than Arizona’s standards.

Preparing your vehicle for auto transport and the climate change is essential. While Arizona’s dry heat rarely requires winter preparation, Texas experiences more varied weather including ice storms and occasional snow in northern regions. Consider having your cooling system checked before car shipping, as Texas humidity differs from Arizona’s arid climate. However, winter tires are typically unnecessary unless you’re moving to the panhandle region.

Insurance requirements also vary between states. Texas mandates minimum liability coverage of 30/60/25, while Arizona requires 25/50/15. Many drivers find Texas insurance rates competitive, but premiums vary by location and driving history. Contact your insurance provider before your auto transport arrives to ensure continuous coverage. Some insurers offer discounts for Texas residents, potentially offsetting registration costs. When arranging Arizona to Texas car shipping, verify your transport company provides adequate insurance coverage during transit to protect your investment throughout the journey.

Yes, your vehicle is fully insured when shipping from Arizona to Texas. Every carrier in our network must carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance.

Before your shipment begins, we verify that the carrier’s insurance is active and valid. We also require all carriers to add Sherpa Auto Transport as a Certificate Holder on their policy. This gives you extra protection and peace of mind during your Arizona to Texas transport.

Your quote includes this insurance coverage at no additional cost. If you’d like to review a carrier’s insurance certificate before shipping, just ask your transport coordinator.

We recommend scheduling your pickup from Arizona at least 1-2 weeks in advance. However, booking earlier gives you the best chance of securing competitive rates and flexible pickup windows.

Here’s why advance notice helps:

  • Better carrier availability: Carriers can plan routes more efficiently and bundle your vehicle with others heading to Texas
  • More competitive pricing: Last-minute bookings often cost more due to limited availability
  • Flexible scheduling: You’ll have more options to choose pickup dates that work for your timeline

If you need faster service, we also offer expedited shipping with pickup possible in as little as 1-3 days, though this comes at a premium price.

Bottom line: Book as early as you can. Even if your move date isn’t final, you can always adjust your pickup window. The extra planning time helps ensure a smooth, affordable shipping experience from Arizona to Texas.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

Open auto transport uses open-air carriers that expose your vehicle to weather and road conditions. It’s the most popular and affordable option, costing significantly less than enclosed transport. Your car ships safely alongside other vehicles, just like you see on highways.

Enclosed auto transport protects your vehicle inside a covered trailer, shielding it from weather, dust, and road debris. This premium service typically costs 50-60% more than open transport.

For Arizona to Texas shipments, most customers choose open transport—it’s reliable, cost-effective, and perfectly safe for standard vehicles. Consider enclosed transport if you’re shipping a luxury car, classic vehicle, exotic sports car, or any car with custom paint or modifications that need extra protection.

We can also ship electric vehicles.
