TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

The rep from Sherpa was very helpful. It was a great experience. The driver picked up the vehicle from my house in Houston and then dropped it off to me in Reno. I had to meet them in a parking lot because the truck was a little bit too big to fit on the side streets. The driver did very well. He kept in touch and picked up early and dropped the vehicle off early too. People should go for Sherpa. They are easy to deal with and there are no hidden fees. So, what you see is what you get.

I used Sherpa Auto Transport to move my vehicle from LV, NV to TX. They were very good with communication as the day approached for pick-up. The car hauler called 24hrs ahead of time. The hauler showed up on time, inspected my car and drove away. 4 days later my car arrived in TX. Very good experience, I definitely use them again.

Sherpa is a good and reliable company. Their rep was friendly and easy to talk to. When they picked up my car in Texas, the driver walked all around it and wrote everything down that was wrong with it. He had me sign off on that and printed everything out. Then, my car was dropped off in Las Vegas, Nevada in an apartment complex and my property manager received it for me. The transport took four days and when I got here the next day, the car was fine.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Nevada to Texas Shipping Prices

Distance

Nevada to Texas spans roughly 1,200–1,500 miles depending on your exact cities. That’s a long haul, and more miles mean more fuel, more driver time, and higher shipping costs.

Route

Good news — Nevada to Texas runs along major interstates like I-10 and I-40. These well-traveled highways keep costs lower compared to remote or hard-to-reach routes.

Season

Summer and early fall are busy shipping seasons between Nevada and Texas. High demand drives prices up. Shipping in late winter or early spring can save you real money.

Vehicle Type

Shipping a standard sedan is the most affordable option. Larger SUVs and trucks take up more trailer space, add weight, and burn more fuel — all of which increase your final cost.

Traffic Considerations

Avoid shipping around major holidays like Thanksgiving. Carriers slow down, routes get congested, and delays are common. Booking during quieter travel windows keeps things moving smoothly and affordably.

Carrier Availability

The Nevada-to-Texas lane is fairly active, so carriers are usually available. However, during peak seasons, availability tightens. Book early to lock in better rates and avoid frustrating wait times.

Open vs Enclosed

Most Nevada-to-Texas shipments use open trailers, which are cheaper and widely available. If you’re shipping a luxury or classic car, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection — but expect to pay more.

Population Density

Delivering to downtown Houston or Austin costs more than a suburban drop-off. Tight streets and heavy traffic slow carriers down. Meeting your carrier in a nearby suburb can save time and money.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during the off-season can lower your costs significantly. Even shifting your schedule by a few weeks — especially around the busy snowbird season — can mean noticeably cheaper rates from Nevada to Texas.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Opting for a flexible five-day pickup and delivery window gives carriers more scheduling options. That added flexibility often translates to lower shipping costs, making it a simple and easy way to save.

Hub City Advantages

Choosing a pickup or drop-off location near major highways in Nevada or Texas increases your carrier options. More competition means better rates — so if you’re near a rural area, consider meeting a carrier at a nearby hub city.

Open Trailers

Open trailers are the most affordable way to ship a car. They’re safe for most standard vehicles. However, if you’re shipping a luxury or classic car, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection and may be worth the added cost.

HOW IT WORKS

How does Car Shipping from Nevada to Texas Work?

Picturesque view of Texas

Nevada to Texas car shipping is a popular interstate route, covering an average distance of 1,446 miles. Whether you’re relocating from Las Vegas to Houston or Reno to Dallas, understanding how auto transport works can make the process much smoother. Sherpa Auto Transport connects you with vetted carriers who specialize in this route, ensuring your vehicle arrives safely and on time.

Getting started with Nevada to Texas car shipping is simple. First, you request a quote — for this route, prices typically range from $925 to $1,550 depending on your vehicle type, transport method, and chosen pickup and delivery locations. Next, you choose between open or enclosed auto transport. Open transport is the most affordable and widely used option, while enclosed transport offers extra protection for luxury or classic vehicles. Once you book, a licensed carrier is assigned to your shipment, and you’ll receive an estimated pickup window.

There are a few things to keep in mind when shipping a car between these two states. Both Nevada and Texas are large states, so your exact pickup and delivery cities will affect both price and timing. Routes passing through desert terrain — common on this corridor — mean carriers must account for heat and fuel considerations. It’s also worth noting that Texas has several major metro areas, including Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and Dallas, each with different carrier availability and traffic patterns that can influence scheduling.

Once your vehicle is picked up, Nevada to Texas auto transport typically takes between 2 to 6 days for delivery. The timeline depends on the specific cities involved, carrier schedules, and road conditions along the route. Before pickup, you’ll do a walk-around inspection with the driver to document your car’s condition. That same inspection is repeated at delivery, giving you full peace of mind. With Sherpa’s Price Lock Promise, the quote you receive is the price you pay — no surprises at drop-off.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Nevada to Texas Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

Moving from Nevada to Texas means navigating some key differences in vehicle rules. When you arrive in Texas, you have 30 days to register your vehicle and get a Texas driver’s license. Nevada does not require emissions testing statewide, but Texas requires an annual emissions and safety inspection for most counties. Make sure your car passes these checks before completing your registration. Planning ahead makes Nevada to Texas car shipping a much smoother process.

Each state also has unique vehicle laws to know. Nevada allows window tint as dark as 35% on front side windows. Texas requires at least 25% light transmission on front side windows, so your tint may need adjustment after arrival. Texas also enforces bumper height regulations based on vehicle weight, so lifted trucks and SUVs should be checked for compliance. If you are using an auto transport service, confirm your vehicle meets Texas standards before it is delivered.

Texas weather is very different from Nevada’s dry desert climate. Summers in Texas bring intense heat and humidity, which can strain your cooling system, tires, and battery. Have your coolant levels, belts, and hoses inspected before or shortly after your car shipping is complete. Texas also sees severe thunderstorms and occasional winter ice storms, especially in northern regions. All-season tires are a smart upgrade if you are relocating to the Dallas or Panhandle areas. Keeping an emergency kit in your vehicle is also a wise habit in Texas.

Insurance requirements differ between the two states as well. Nevada requires minimum liability coverage of 25/50/20, while Texas requires 30/60/25. This means Texas demands slightly higher coverage limits. Contact your insurance provider before your auto transport is scheduled to update your policy for Texas. Rates may also change based on your new ZIP code, as urban Texas areas like Houston and Dallas can carry higher premiums. Updating your coverage on time helps you stay legal and protected from day one.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Nevada to Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs

Preparing your vehicle for transport from Nevada to Texas is simple. Follow these key steps to ensure a smooth and safe shipment:

  • Clean your car: Wash the exterior so the carrier can easily document any pre-existing scratches or dents during the inspection.
  • Document the condition: Take clear photos of your vehicle from all angles before pickup. This protects you if any disputes arise.
  • Remove personal items: Clear out any personal belongings. Auto transport insurance does not cover items left inside the vehicle.
  • Remove accessories: Take off any exterior add-ons like spoilers, bike racks, or roof-top cargo carriers that could be damaged in transit.
  • Remove your toll pass: Detach any toll transponders (like E-ZPass or SunPass) to avoid being charged during the haul.
  • Check your fluids and tires: Make sure your tires are properly inflated and there are no fluid leaks. A leaking vehicle may be refused by the carrier.
  • Leave a quarter tank of gas: Keep the fuel level low — about ¼ of a tank — to reduce weight while still allowing the carrier to load and unload your car.
  • Disable alarms: Turn off or disarm any car alarms to prevent disruptions during transport.
  • Leave a set of keys: Provide the carrier with a working key so they can move your vehicle as needed.

Have questions about coverage? Contact our team — we’re happy to walk you through the details before you book.

The sooner you book, the better. We recommend scheduling your Nevada pickup at least two weeks in advance, though booking three to four weeks ahead gives you the most flexibility and the best chance of securing your preferred pickup window.

Here’s why early booking matters for Nevada to Texas shipments:

  • Carrier availability: Carriers plan routes in advance. Booking early means more drivers are available to pick up your vehicle on your preferred date.
  • Better rates: Last-minute shipments often cost more. Early booking gives carriers time to bundle your vehicle with others heading to Texas, which can lower your cost.
  • Peak season demand: Summer months and the end of the year are the busiest times for auto transport. If you’re moving during these periods, book as early as possible — four weeks or more is ideal.

If you’re in a time crunch, don’t worry. Sherpa Auto Transport offers expedited shipping options to help get your vehicle moving quickly. However, for the smoothest, most cost-effective experience, plan ahead and book early.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

Open transport is the most popular and affordable option for shipping your car from Nevada to Texas. Your vehicle rides on an open-air trailer — the same type used to deliver new cars to dealerships. It’s safe, reliable, and the right choice for most vehicles.

Enclosed transport costs roughly 50% more than open transport, but it provides full protection from weather, road debris, and dust along the Nevada-to-Texas route — which can include desert highways and open stretches with loose gravel. This option is best for:

  • Classic or antique cars
  • Luxury or exotic vehicles
  • Custom paint jobs or low-clearance vehicles
  • Any car you simply can’t risk exposing to the elements

For most standard vehicles making the Nevada to Texas trip, open transport is the smarter, more cost-effective choice. If your car holds significant monetary or sentimental value, the extra cost of enclosed transport is well worth the peace of mind.

Not sure which is right for you? Check out our detailed open vs. enclosed auto transport guide to help you decide.

Yes! Door-to-door auto transport is our most popular service for shipping a car from Nevada to Texas — and for good reason. It’s the most convenient option available.

Here’s how it works: when you book your shipment, simply provide your preferred pickup address in Nevada and your delivery address in Texas. Your assigned carrier will come directly to those locations to pick up and drop off your vehicle.

Keep in mind that carriers drive large trucks, so there are occasional limitations. If your street is too narrow, has low-hanging trees, or poses any other safety concern, your driver will work with you to find a nearby alternative — like a parking lot or gas station. This is rare, but it’s good to know upfront.

The bottom line: door-to-door service saves you time and effort. You won’t need to drop off or pick up your vehicle at a terminal. From Las Vegas to Houston or Reno to Dallas, we bring the convenience to you.

Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket.

While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.
