TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

I recently utilized Sherpa Auto Transport when we moved across the country, needing to transport my husband’s classic car without driving it. After extensively researching about 4 different companies and reviewing the feedback, we chose Sherpa because of their reputation for careful handling. The driver was very careful during pickup and he knew what he was doing. The car was shipped from Georgia to Arizona, taking around four days to deliver. We observed the unloading process and were impressed by the professionalism displayed. He was also very friendly and kind to us. Overall, I would highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport, especially for those transporting valuable classic cars.

I called Sherpa and they reactivated the bid and even though it was some weeks later, they gave us the original price that they had quoted us. It was seamless. We made arrangements, paid our deposit and left the car with some friends because all of this was last minute and Sherpa gave us a pickup window of several days. They notified the friends when the driver was coming to pick up the vehicle. They took pictures. It was very well done and they came super fast. I was surprised. It was two and a half days, maybe, to transport from Jonesboro, Georgia, which is a suburb of Atlanta, all the way out here to Gilbert, Arizona, which is a suburb of the Phoenix Metro area.

I was already nervous because it was a lot of money and it’s my car, and I didn’t know how things were gonna go. Sherpa said that I would get $50 if I sent in certain documentation which I already did. But even if I don’t receive the rebate check, their quote was comparable to another company that I was seriously considering. The pick up was a very easy process. The driver communicated very well with me and he let me know when he was 20 minutes away. My sister and my niece drove the car from Georgia to Chicago for me, and they had an overnight stay somewhere because they didn’t wanna make that drive in one day. So, Sherpa was actually less expensive for me than to have family members do it.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Georgia to Arizona Shipping Prices

Distance

Georgia to Arizona spans approximately 1,800 miles, making distance a significant cost factor. Longer routes require more fuel, driver time, and vehicle wear, which directly increases your shipping quote for this cross-country transport.

Route

The Georgia-Arizona route primarily follows major interstates like I-10 and I-20, which helps keep costs lower. These well-traveled highways offer better carrier access and efficiency compared to rural or less-traveled routes.

Season

Summer and winter see increased demand for Georgia-Arizona shipping due to snowbird migration and relocation patterns. Booking during spring or fall shoulder seasons typically yields better rates and faster carrier availability.

Vehicle Type

Shipping a sedan from Georgia to Arizona costs less than an SUV or truck. Larger vehicles take up more trailer space, add weight that increases fuel consumption, and require more effort to load and secure.

Traffic Considerations

Holiday periods like Thanksgiving week create heavy traffic on cross-country routes, potentially delaying shipments. Planning your Georgia-Arizona transport outside peak travel times ensures smoother transit and may reduce costs.

Carrier Availability

Peak seasons may require 1-2 weeks to secure a carrier for Georgia-Arizona routes, while off-peak periods often see availability within days. Early booking ensures better pricing and scheduling flexibility for your shipment.

Open vs Enclosed

Open transport is the most economical option for Georgia-Arizona shipping and works well for standard vehicles. Enclosed trailers cost more but provide weather protection, ideal for luxury, classic, or high-value cars.

Population Density

Major Georgia cities like Atlanta and Arizona metros like Phoenix offer easier, cheaper pickup and delivery. Rural areas or congested downtown locations may incur additional fees due to accessibility challenges and navigation difficulty.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during off-peak months saves money compared to busy seasons. Avoid snowbird season when demand spikes between Georgia and Arizona. Even shifting your shipment by a few weeks can significantly reduce costs.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Flexible pickup and delivery dates lower shipping costs. Choosing a five-day window instead of exact dates gives carriers more routing options. This flexibility translates directly into savings for your Georgia to Arizona transport.

Hub City Advantages

Select pickup and delivery locations near major highways in both states. Highway-accessible cities offer more carrier options and competitive rates. Shipping to rural Arizona? Consider meeting your carrier in a nearby highway hub city instead.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed options and work well for standard vehicles. Your car ships safely exposed to weather, just like driving cross-country. Reserve enclosed trailers for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles needing extra protection.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Georgia to Arizona Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

When planning your Georgia to Arizona car shipping, understanding the regulatory differences between these states is essential. Arizona requires new residents to register their vehicles within 15 days of establishing residency, compared to Georgia’s 30-day window. You’ll need to visit an Arizona MVD office with your current registration, proof of insurance, and a passed vehicle inspection if your car is from out of state.

Arizona has no state emissions testing requirements, which differs from Georgia’s stricter emission standards in metro Atlanta counties. However, window tinting laws vary significantly—Arizona permits 33% visible light transmission on front side windows, while Georgia allows only 32%. Arizona also has specific regulations on vehicle frame height modifications that are more restrictive than Georgia’s standards, so modified trucks or lifted vehicles may need adjustments.

Preparing your vehicle for Arizona’s climate is crucial when arranging auto transport. Unlike Georgia’s humidity and occasional winter weather, Arizona’s extreme heat and dry conditions require different considerations. You won’t need winter tires, but ensuring your cooling system, air conditioning, and battery are in excellent condition is vital. The intense desert sun can damage interiors and paint, so consider UV-protective treatments. Your car shipping company can advise on seasonal timing to avoid extreme summer temperatures during transport.

Insurance requirements differ between states as well. Arizona mandates minimum liability coverage of 25/50/15, while Georgia requires 25/50/25, meaning higher property damage coverage in Georgia. When moving from Georgia to Arizona, contact your insurance provider before your auto transport to ensure continuous coverage and compliance with Arizona’s requirements. Some insurers offer lower rates in Arizona due to reduced weather-related claims compared to Georgia’s storm risks. Additionally, verify that your car shipping company carries adequate insurance during transit, as your personal policy may not cover transport-related damages.
