TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

I’ve used Sherpa twice. Once was from GA, and then once was Arkansas. Everybody was very professional. I really didn`t have to do a lot on my end. I was handled as stated. I was very pleased. The recent experience went very smoothly. The first one was a little delayed. But the gentleman that was transporting the vehicle, communicated those delays to me. That was fine because as long as there was communication, I was okay with it. If I have to do it again, I’ll definitely be calling Sherpa.

An antique old car needed to get moved to Louisiana where the owner`s daughter is a professor at LSU. Everything was perfect. The driver was very nice and clean cut and the broker on the phone was nice as well. They were very professional and the whole process was spotless and easy to work with. It was 100%. If I had a fleet of cars, I would only use Sherpa, but I don`t. It`s an isolated incident but it was never a stressful event at all. The owner`s daughter sent me a picture a month later and she`s happy.

I initially contacted Sherpa to get pricing to transport my vehicle from Savannah, GA to Vallejo, CA on 12/01/22. I spoke with Amanii the best customer service agent EVER! Unfortunately, I chose a different carrier because they gave me a lower quote. My vehicle was not picked up in January as promised. I arrived in Vallejo on 01/08/23, I contacted Sherpa again on 01/09/23, spoke with Amanii, he scheduled my transport and I received my vehicle on 01/17/23!! The carrier was amazing. I would highly recommend Sherpa.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Macon, GA Shipping Prices

Distance

Distance plays a key role in your shipping cost. The further your car travels, the more you’ll pay. Shipping from Macon to a nearby state like Florida or Tennessee will cost less than shipping cross-country to California or Washington.

Route

Your route matters just as much as distance. Macon sits near I-75 and I-16, two major highways. Routes along these corridors are typically cheaper because carriers travel them frequently. If you’re shipping to or from a remote area far from major highways, expect higher costs due to the extra time and fuel required.

Season

Timing affects your price. Summer months (May through September) are peak season when demand is highest, driving up costs. Winter months typically offer lower rates. If you have flexibility, shipping during the off-season can save you money.

Vehicle Type

What you ship matters. Standard sedans are the cheapest to transport. SUVs and trucks cost more because they’re heavier (using more fuel) and harder to load. Some carriers can’t handle large vehicles at all. The bigger and heavier your vehicle, the higher your quote will be.

Traffic Patterns

Heavy traffic periods increase costs. The week before Thanksgiving, spring break, and major holidays see packed highways. Carriers face delays and higher fuel costs during these times. If possible, avoid these peak travel windows to get better rates and faster service.

Carrier Availability

Carrier availability changes with demand. During peak season, you might wait several weeks for pickup. In the off-season, carriers are often available within days. Booking early gives you more options and better prices, especially during busy periods.

Open vs Enclosed

You have two trailer options. Open trailers are the standard choice and cost less. They’re perfect for everyday vehicles. Enclosed trailers protect your car from weather and road debris but cost significantly more. Most people choose open transport unless they’re shipping a luxury, classic, or exotic vehicle.

Population Density

Where you pick up and drop off affects cost. Macon is a mid-sized city with good access, which helps keep costs reasonable. However, if you’re shipping to a dense urban area with tight streets and traffic, expect to pay more. Consider meeting your carrier in a nearby suburb with easier access to save money and simplify logistics.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during off-peak seasons offers significant savings compared to busy periods. Even shifting your transport by a few weeks can reduce costs, especially during high-demand times like snowbird season when many relocate south for winter.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lower your shipping costs considerably. By offering carriers a five-day window instead of exact dates, you provide more scheduling options, which often translates to better rates and more available carriers.

Hub City Advantages

Macon’s proximity to major highways like I-75 and I-16 provides excellent shipping access. Choosing pickup locations near these main routes attracts more carriers and competitive pricing. For rural destinations, consider meeting your carrier in a highway-accessible city.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost significantly less than enclosed options and work well for most vehicles. They’re the industry standard for everyday cars. However, luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles benefit from enclosed trailers’ added protection from weather and road debris.

Enclosed auto transport ships your vehicle in a fully covered trailer, protecting it from weather, dust, and road debris.
