TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

I’ve used Sherpa twice. Once was from Georgia, and then once was Arkansas. Everybody was very professional. I really didn`t have to do a lot on my end. I was handled as stated. I was very pleased. The recent experience went very smoothly. The first one was a little delayed. But the gentleman that was transporting the vehicle, communicated those delays to me. That was fine because as long as there was communication, I was okay with it. If I have to do it again, I’ll definitely be calling Sherpa.

An antique old car needed to get moved to Louisiana where the owner`s daughter is a professor at LSU. Everything was perfect. The driver was very nice and clean cut and the broker on the phone was nice as well. They were very professional and the whole process was spotless and easy to work with. It was 100%. If I had a fleet of cars, I would only use Sherpa, but I don`t. It`s an isolated incident but it was never a stressful event at all. The owner`s daughter sent me a picture a month later and she`s happy.

I initially contacted Sherpa to get pricing to transport my vehicle from Savannah, GA to Vallejo, CA on 12/01/22. I spoke with Amanii the best customer service agent EVER! Unfortunately, I chose a different carrier because they gave me a lower quote. My vehicle was not picked up in January as promised. I arrived in Vallejo on 01/08/23, I contacted Sherpa again on 01/09/23, spoke with Amanii, he scheduled my transport and I received my vehicle on 01/17/23!! The carrier was amazing. I would highly recommend Sherpa.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Dunwoody, GA Shipping Prices

Distance

Distance plays a major role in your shipping costs. The further your vehicle needs to travel to or from Dunwoody, the higher the price. For example, shipping from Dunwoody to a nearby state like Tennessee will cost significantly less than shipping cross-country to California.

Route

Your route matters just as much as distance. Dunwoody’s location near major highways like I-85 and I-285 works in your favor. Routes along major interstates are cheaper because carriers travel them regularly. If you’re shipping to a remote area or small coastal town, expect to pay more due to limited carrier traffic on those routes.

Season

Timing affects your wallet. Summer months and winter holidays are peak moving seasons, which means higher demand and higher prices. If you have flexibility, consider shipping during the off-season (late fall or early spring) when fewer people are moving and rates drop.

Vehicle Type

What you drive impacts what you pay. Standard sedans are the cheapest to ship. SUVs and trucks cost more because they’re heavier (increasing fuel costs), harder to load and unload, and take up more space on the trailer. Some carriers can’t even accommodate larger vehicles, which limits your options and raises prices.

Traffic Patterns

Heavy traffic periods can increase costs and delays. The week before Thanksgiving, for instance, sees massive road congestion nationwide. Plan your shipment during quieter windows when possible. This helps carriers stay on schedule and can result in better rates.

Carrier Availability

Carrier availability fluctuates with demand. During peak season, you might wait several weeks for an available carrier, and competition drives prices up. During the off-season, carriers are more readily available—often within just a few days—and rates become more competitive.

Open vs Enclosed

You have two main trailer options. Open trailers are the standard choice and cost less. They work perfectly well for most vehicles. Enclosed trailers offer protection from weather and road debris but cost significantly more. Most people choose open transport unless they’re shipping a luxury, classic, or high-value vehicle.

Population Density

Dunwoody’s suburban location with accessible roads is an advantage. Dense urban areas with narrow streets and limited truck access cost more to service. If you’re shipping to a crowded downtown area, consider arranging pickup or delivery in a nearby suburb with easier access. This simple adjustment can save you money.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Timing your car shipment during off-peak seasons can significantly reduce costs. Avoid busy periods like snowbird season when demand surges. Even shifting your shipment by a few weeks can result in lower rates and better availability from carriers.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Offering flexible pickup and delivery dates helps you save money on car shipping. By choosing a five-day window instead of exact dates, carriers can optimize their routes more efficiently. This flexibility typically translates to lower shipping costs for you.

Hub City Advantages

Dunwoody’s proximity to major highways gives you a pricing advantage. Choose pickup locations near interstate access points to attract more carriers and competitive bids. If shipping to rural areas, consider meeting carriers at nearby highway-accessible cities to reduce costs.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed options and work well for most vehicles. They’re the standard choice for everyday cars and offer reliable protection during transport. Reserve enclosed trailers for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles requiring extra security.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dunwoody, GA Vehicle Transport FAQs

Preparing your vehicle for transport from Dunwoody, GA is simple. Follow these key steps:

Remove personal items: Take out all belongings, toll passes, and loose items from your car. Carriers typically don’t insure personal property.

Clean your vehicle: Wash your car inside and out. This makes it easier to spot any existing damage during the inspection.

Document the condition: Take photos of your vehicle from all angles before pickup. This protects you if any issues arise.

Check fluid levels and battery: Ensure your car is in good running condition with no leaks. The battery should be fully charged.

Disable alarms: Turn off your car alarm to avoid issues during transport.
