What our Scottsdale customers say about Sherpa:
“The carrier they found for me was WONDERFUL. Sherpa gave me his cell and email as soon as it was booked, and he was a great communicator. My car arrived in perfect condition, even earlier than originally quoted. The price was also super competitive – I would venture to say it was actually on the lower end of quotes and the customer service provided was worth far more than I paid.”
“Excellent experience, though I suggest booking as early as possible. The carrier, two drives, got my car from outside Philadelphia to Scottsdale, Arizona in TWO days. The drivers were courteous, helpful and professional. I was kept appraised of the transport process and was called several hours before delivery to get a dry close time of arrival.”
“I cannot believe how smooth and easy this process was, my car was picked up and delivered across two states in a day and a half. The driver was excellent and kind and kept me updated, and the car was exactly how I left it upon delivery. I wish I had known about this affordable service long ago! I would definitely recommend!”

Note: These figures are based on Sherpa’s actual data from the past 12 months of vehicle shipments to or from Scottsdale, AZ. When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Scottsdale Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Scottsdale, AZ significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks typically cost more to ship than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Scottsdale. Enclosed transport, while more expensive, offers additional protection from Arizona’s intense sun and occasional dust storms.
- Season: Car shipping prices in Scottsdale can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months often see higher rates due to increased demand, while winter might offer more competitive pricing.
- Route Popularity: Scottsdale’s proximity to major highways like I-10 and I-17 can affect pricing. More frequent routes along these interstates may offer more competitive rates compared to less traveled paths.
- Delivery Timeframe: Expedited shipping to or from Scottsdale will cost more than standard delivery times. Flexible pickup and delivery dates can often result in lower prices.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Inoperable cars require special equipment for loading, which increases the cost of auto transport to or from Scottsdale.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Scottsdale, AZ. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Scottsdale car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Open shipping is the most cost-effective option for car transport to or from Scottsdale, AZ. It offers greater flexibility and lower rates compared to enclosed carriers.
- Select convenient locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup and dropoff points near major interstates like I-10 or I-17. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your Scottsdale car shipping needs.
- Consider seasonal timing: Auto transport to Scottsdale may be more affordable during off-peak seasons when demand is lower.
- Opt for terminal-to-terminal service: While Sherpa specializes in door-to-door delivery, some companies offer terminal-to-terminal options which can be more cost-effective if you’re able to drop off and pick up your vehicle at designated locations.

Scottsdale Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When shipping your car to or from Scottsdale, AZ, it’s essential to be aware of local vehicle requirements and regulations. Arizona doesn’t use toll roads, so there’s no need to remove a toll reader. However, you should prepare for the unique climate and driving conditions in this desert city.
Upon arrival in Scottsdale, you’ll need to register your vehicle with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) within 30 days. This process includes:
- Providing proof of ownership
- Passing an emissions test (required in Maricopa County)
- Obtaining Arizona auto insurance
- Paying registration fees
Scottsdale experiences extreme heat, so it’s crucial to prepare your vehicle for the climate. Consider tinting your windows and using sun shades to protect your car’s interior.
When moving to Scottsdale, you’ll need to set up utilities. Salt River Project (SRP) and Arizona Public Service (APS) provide electricity, while the City of Scottsdale manages water services. For internet, popular providers include Cox Communications and CenturyLink.
Other important tasks when relocating include:
- Updating your driver’s license at the Arizona Motor Vehicle Division (MVD)
- Registering to vote at the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office
- Enrolling children in the Scottsdale Unified School District
- Obtaining a library card from the Scottsdale Public Library
If you’re moving away from Scottsdale, remember to cancel local memberships, forward your mail, and notify important contacts of your address change. By planning ahead and using reliable car shipping services, your move to or from Scottsdale can be a smooth and stress-free experience.
Scottsdale, Arizona Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Scottsdale?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Scottsdale. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Scottsdale?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Scottsdale?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Scottsdale?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Scottsdale
When planning car shipping to or from Scottsdale, AZ, it’s crucial to consider the unique climate and seasonal factors that can impact your auto transport experience. Scottsdale’s desert environment presents distinct challenges and opportunities for those looking to ship a car to or from this vibrant city.
Scottsdale experiences hot, dry summers and mild winters, which can affect your car shipping plans:
- Summer Precautions: With temperatures often exceeding 100°F (38°C), protect your vehicle during transport by using a sunshade under the windshield. This simple step can prevent dashboard cracking and interior damage.
- Winter Benefits: Mild winters make Scottsdale car shipping easier year-round, with minimal risk of ice or snow-related delays.
- Monsoon Season: From June to September, sudden dust storms can occur. If possible, schedule your auto transport outside this period for a smoother experience.
When using car shipping services in Scottsdale, keep these tips in mind:
- Avoid storing heat-sensitive items in your car during transport, as interior temperatures can soar.
- Consider enclosed car transport to protect your vehicle from dust and sun exposure, especially for luxury or classic cars.
- Be aware of peak seasons: Winter attracts ‘snowbirds,’ increasing demand for car shipping. Book early or consider flexible dates for better rates.
By understanding Scottsdale’s unique climate and following these guidelines, you can ensure a smooth and efficient car shipping experience. Always work with a reputable car shipping company familiar with Scottsdale’s specific conditions for the best results in shipping a car to or from this beautiful Arizona city.
Car Shipping for College Students in Scottsdale, Arizona
When considering car shipping to Scottsdale for college, it’s crucial to understand the parking situation. Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, near Scottsdale, requires students to purchase parking permits. These can be pricey, so factor this into your budget when planning your auto transport. Most off-campus apartments offer parking, but always double-check before signing a lease. For winter breaks, ASU provides long-term parking options, perfect if you’re shipping your car back home. Remember, Scottsdale’s desert climate means extreme heat, not snow, so winter tires aren’t necessary. However, ensure your car’s air conditioning is in top shape! Before finalizing your car shipping services, verify that your roadside assistance coverage extends to Arizona. Lastly, consider using a reliable car shipping company to transport your vehicle safely to Scottsdale, especially if you’re coming from out of state. This can save you time and potential wear and tear on your car during the long journey.
Reviews from our Arizona Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Arizona customers:
“Great transport experience from MN to AZ. Easy to communicate with both Sherpa and Transport Carrier. Vehicle came on time, clear of damage, and within competitive quoted price. Had my vehicle onsite within two weeks start to finish. Thank you Sherpa! (5) Five Stars from this customer. Craig, Scottsdale, AZ“
“I needed to have my vehicle shipped from Arizona to Maryland. I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport based on the Google reviews. My selection of this company was due to the contact and information provided by their representative Danielle. She explained the process to me answered all my questions. I gave them a pickup date and that was the date my vehicle was picked up. They provided me with an estimate delivery date and my delivery happened before the that estimate date. I was very pleased with the driver who contacted me when he was in the area to let me know the delivery day and time. He kept true to his word in contacting and delivery. Thank you Sherpa for giving me peace of mind in the delivery of my vehicle.”
“After calling 4 different transport companies, Sherpa was the most expensive – by about $200 before $100 mail-in rebate. However, after looking at all four company`s BBB reviews, Sherpa was the only one who seemed to be dedicated to making customers feel satisfied instead of vilified. After my initial quote, they followed up every day with a phone call and/or email, only one other company followed up with a couple of emails. The transport window I gave them was filled at the earliest date of the window and the delivery was days faster than the delivery window – which could cause some issues, but thankfully didn`t. The driver called days before and was on time to pick up the vehicle. I`d highly recommend Sherpa for your auto transport broker.”
“I asked when the car would get there, when it would be picked up, what it would cost, and everything Sherpa Auto Transport said happened. It was super easy. I called Sherpa on a Friday, and by Monday, they told me they would pick the car up the next week when I asked them to. Before that, I called them on a Thursday and they picked it up Friday. Just for their safety and to make it easier on them, I drove up to the top of the hill from where I live and met them on the main road. They looked the car over, took pictures, made sure everything was good, and they just put it on their truck. My son said everything was perfect. The guy pulled it off, my son gave him the cash, and that was it. What the quote was exactly what Sherpa charged me.”
“I was a little concerned about shipping my car across country as everyone I talked to had a horror story about this process. So, I started to read reviews / articles online and Sherpa came out on the top of my list based on their no ** quote process (ie not an estimate but a firm quote using their top rated / screened drivers). They were so good and clear on their quote, pick up window, and drop off window – I went with them based on my first call. Sherpa and the driver kept in touch with me through the whole process and my car got delivered a day early. I would differently use Sherpa in the future for my car shipment needs – highly recommended.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Scottsdale, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Arizona. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
