What our Grand Junction customers say about Sherpa:
“We contracted with Sherpa to arrange transport of an automobile we purchased from our daughter and son-in-law in Connecticut to our home near Boulder, Colorado. Sherpa notified us that it had found a transporter, that the price would be about $200 higher than its estimate, and that Sherpa would cover the difference–so we paid exactly what Sherpa had promised. They were good in communicating each step of the process.”
“My experience with Sherpa was great. Really great reservation system and fantastic customer support and communication along the way. My third party hauler was great. They communicated wonderfully and got my vehicle from Colorado to Chicago in less than 48 hours from pickup. Go with Sherpa. It was the best price, the best online experience and had amazing customer support and communication.”
“Upfront guaranteed delivery. Great communication. Guaranteed pickup in 4 day pickup window. My vehicle was picked up on a Tuesday in North Carolina and delivered at my driveway on Thursday to Colorado. 1700 miles in two days, no issues with the vehicle at all. Sherpa made me feel comfortable explaining the process in detail.”

Factors that affect Grand Junction Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: Grand Junction’s location in western Colorado affects shipping costs. Longer distances, such as transporting to or from the East Coast, typically result in higher prices.
- Route accessibility: Grand Junction’s proximity to I-70 can help reduce costs. However, shipping to more remote areas of Colorado may increase prices due to challenging terrain.
- Seasonal factors: Grand Junction’s climate, with hot summers and cold winters, can impact car shipping. Winter weather might affect routes through the Rocky Mountains, potentially increasing costs or transit times.
- Vehicle type: The size and weight of your car influence shipping costs. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks, common in Colorado, may cost more to transport than compact cars.
- Transport method: Open transport is the most economical option for most vehicles. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers extra protection for high-value cars against Grand Junction’s varying weather conditions.
- Timing flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can reduce costs. Rush shipping to or from Grand Junction will likely increase your price.
- Market demand: Auto transport prices may fluctuate based on demand. Summer months and January often see higher prices due to increased relocation activity.
Understanding these factors can help you plan your Grand Junction car shipping more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of cost factors, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during transit.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Carriers may offer discounts for shipments that fit well into their existing schedules.

Grand Junction, Colorado Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Grand Junction?

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Grand Junction?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Grand Junction?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Grand Junction?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Grand Junction
When planning car shipping to or from Grand Junction, CO, it’s crucial to consider the area’s unique seasonal weather patterns. Grand Junction experiences a semi-arid climate with distinct seasons, each presenting its own challenges for auto transport.
In winter, snow and icy conditions can affect car shipping services. If you’re scheduling a pickup or delivery during this time:
- Ensure your vehicle doesn’t have snow tire chains, as carriers can’t transport cars with them.
- Choose a pickup/drop-off location on level ground to ensure the truck’s stability on potentially icy surfaces.
- Remove any items from your car that could freeze and potentially damage the interior.
Summer in Grand Junction can bring intense heat, so when you ship a car during these months:
- Place a sunshade under the windshield to protect the interior from sun damage.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items that might melt during transport.
Beyond weather considerations, timing is crucial when scheduling car transport in Grand Junction. The city sees increased demand for auto transport services during specific periods:
- Late August and early January, coinciding with Colorado Mesa University’s academic calendar.
- Spring and fall, when seasonal residents (snowbirds) typically move in and out of the area.
To secure the best rates and ensure timely service, consider booking your Grand Junction car shipping a few weeks before or after these peak times. By planning ahead and keeping these seasonal factors in mind, you can ensure a smooth and efficient car shipping experience to or from Grand Junction, CO.
Car Shipping for College Students in Grand Junction, Colorado
When considering car shipping to Grand Junction, Colorado for college, it’s crucial to understand the parking situation. Colorado Mesa University, the main institution in Grand Junction, requires students to purchase parking permits. These can be obtained online or at the Parking Services office. For students living on campus, most dorms offer nearby parking lots. However, spaces are limited, so it’s advisable to secure a permit early. Off-campus students should check with their landlords about parking availability. During winter breaks, the university provides long-term parking options, but it’s best to confirm in advance. Given Grand Junction’s snowy winters, snow tires are highly recommended. Before shipping your car, ensure your insurance and roadside assistance coverage are valid in Colorado. If you’re unsure about the car transport process, consider consulting a reputable car shipping company that specializes in auto transport to Grand Junction. They can provide valuable advice on the best time to ship your vehicle and how to prepare it for the journey.
Reviews from our Colorado Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Colorado customers:
“Car was picked up and delivered exactly within timeframe Sherpa provided. All the way from Connecticut to Denver. People were nice and responsive when I called. You do have to take a leap of faith with all these type of brokers, because pick up often does go right up to the wire. However, Sherpa did use their “sweeten the pot” contribution (a portion of their $300 fee) of 75$ to get an auto transport commitment. This whole process is not very high tech, but it does work well. I did call around and everyone seemed competitive within a couple of hundred dollars. This was the first time I ever shipped a car, and if I ever have to do this again, there’s no reason to go anywhere else. I know some people claim they had issues, but I’m willing to bet that those are anomalies. Nothing is ever 100% but as far as my experience, I’m 100% satisfied with their service.”
“I was looking through Consumer Reports’ reviews and saw that Sherpa was the number two carrier in the nation. Instead of going with the number one company, I went with the number two because I figured they work harder at trying to become number one than the number one company already has. I chose to go with Sherpa to transport a Subaru Outback, and it only took a couple of days, which was sooner than I anticipated. My son was there for pickup, and he was pleased with the driver. I was there at drop-off and I was so impressed with him and how hard he worked moving the cars around on the thing. He doesn’t have an easy job and his level of professionalism was exemplary. Sherpa was spot on with the quote as well. In fact, they said if I would send their company a copy of the manifest they got and a copy of the final thing that I got, within two weeks, they would refund $100 to my credit card. However, I was so impressed with the job they did and how hard they worked that I didn’t even bother with that and just let them keep it. I don’t know why Sherpa is not number one, but they probably soon will be because they really did a great job.”
“Setting service up with Sherpa was fine. But I wasn’t gonna get any info on the auto transport person until much closer to the time they were coming. The third party people that transported my car from Colorado Springs to Florida were awesome. They came out when I was still living in Colorado Springs. The driver took a ton of pictures of the car before he loaded it up on the truck, and explained some things to me. That was on a Wednesday and I got a call from him on Friday saying he was running a day early and if there was any way he could deliver the car to me on Friday. I already had plans at a restaurant with girlfriends, so he met me at the parking lot of the restaurant and unloaded my car there for me. It was very cool. He also took pictures after he dropped the car off. It was a very good experience.”
“We had an overall good experience. It was expensive. But it wasn’t out of the realm of what we were looking at. Sherpa Auto Transport was cool with transporting a car that was immobile. We had a slight hiccup, because we’re not there. So, the first transport they scheduled showed up and we didn’t have anybody to be there, because we weren’t expecting them to be there so fast. Sherpa books transporters with other rides in mind. So, the schedule you give Sherpa may not be necessarily the schedule that the person they book is abiding by. What ended up happening was Sherpa quickly got us another transport, and it worked out perfectly. Sherpa was very helpful. Every time I called, they picked up. And if there was a time when I called and couldn’t get to somebody in a normal amount of time, they shot me an email quickly.”
“I shopped around even signed a contract with an unreliable company. They were baiting and switching me. Lied about the amount so I’d go with them. My car was never picked up and I’m disputing the charge on my CC. So I was worried about signing again with another company. I reluctantly tried Sherpa and everything they said happened. My car even arrived on time. I had lost a few days for pickup with the other company. Thinking oh my car will be delivered a few days later. We landed in Florida and the driver delivered my car at 10:00 PM that night. I even got a $100 rebate back!! I will definitely use them to transport vehicle back.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Grand Junction, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Colorado. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
