What our New Port Richey customers say about Sherpa:
“Top Line Auto Service based out of California dropped the car off. The two brothers met me. I had spoken to Joseph on the phone, and figured out what direction they were coming from, which was east from Florida. And based on where I live, I gave them the best place that I thought would be the easiest to pull up an 18-wheeler, and with a truckload of cars, to offload it and meet them to where they could easily get back on the interstate again and go about their day without having to snake through city traffic.”
“It didn’t take me too long to get my date I wanted to sent my car from Crestview, Florida to Denver Colorado. I gave Shane the date May 23rd I asked for and the driver arrived on that day I asked for. The dispatcher from the company assigned for me were incredible, the lady dispatcher were on top of informing me on date when the driver will come to pick my car.”
“Just used them to transport my mom`s old 1993 Del Sol from Inverness, FL to Pittsburgh, PA. Created the request on Sat 7 Oct. Same day I received confirmation of the booking and price (lower than the other companies I contacted). Received an email on Sun 8 Oct that they were still searching for a driver. On Mon 9 Oct, I received an email indicating a driver was located.”

If you’re moving away, remember to remove your SunPass transponder to avoid unnecessary charges. For those moving to New Port Richey, consider purchasing a SunPass for convenient travel on Florida’s toll roads.
Florida requires vehicle registration within 30 days of establishing residency. New residents must visit a local tax collector’s office to complete this process. Bring your out-of-state title, proof of insurance, and identification. Florida doesn’t mandate vehicle inspections, but it’s wise to ensure your car is in good condition for the humid subtropical climate.
When settling in New Port Richey, set up utilities promptly. Duke Energy provides electricity, while the City of New Port Richey Utilities Department manages water services. - Update your address with banks, credit cards, and subscription services
When planning your car shipping to or from New Port Richey, consider the city’s location near major highways like US-19 and SR-54. These routes provide excellent access for auto transport services. Keep in mind that Florida’s hurricane season (June to November) may affect shipping schedules, so plan accordingly.
Whether you’re using car shipping services or driving yourself, be prepared for New Port Richey’s warm, humid climate. Ensure your vehicle’s air conditioning is in top condition, and consider a protective coating to guard against salt air if you’ll be living near the Gulf coast.
New Port Richey, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from New Port Richey?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from New Port Richey. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from New Port Richey?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from New Port Richey?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to New Port Richey?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.
Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. The primary reason for choosing enclosed auto transport is when you have a high value vehicle like a classic car or a custom paint job that can’t afford the risk of wayward debris on the road. See our open vs enclosed auto transport guide for more details.
Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in New Port Richey
When planning car shipping to or from New Port Richey, FL, it’s crucial to consider the area’s unique seasonal factors. New Port Richey experiences a subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. This weather pattern significantly impacts auto transport logistics throughout the year.
During the summer months (June to September), temperatures can soar, affecting your car shipping experience. If you’re using car shipping services during this time:
- Place a sunshade under your windshield to protect the interior from intense heat.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from your vehicle to prevent melting or damage.
- Consider scheduling early morning or evening pickups to avoid the hottest parts of the day.
While winters in New Port Richey are generally mild, occasional cold snaps can occur. When you ship a car during winter:
- Ensure your vehicle is winter-ready, but avoid snow tires or chains as carriers can’t transport them.
- Choose pickup/drop-off locations on level ground to ensure carrier stability in case of rare icy conditions.
New Port Richey’s proximity to the Gulf Coast means hurricane season (June to November) can affect car transport schedules. When using a car shipping company during this period:
- Be prepared for potential delays due to severe weather.
- Stay in close contact with your chosen auto transport provider for updates.
- Consider shipping a car outside peak hurricane months for more reliable schedules.
Lastly, New Port Richey experiences a surge in population during winter months due to ‘snowbirds’ seeking warmer climates. This influx can impact car shipping demand and prices. To optimize your New Port Richey car shipping experience:
- Book your auto transport well in advance during peak snowbird season (December to April).
- Consider shipping slightly before or after peak times for potentially lower rates and increased availability.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, you can ensure a smooth and efficient car shipping experience to or from New Port Richey, FL, regardless of the time of year.
Reviews from our Florida Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Florida customers:
“Sherpa is very reliable and honest. They’ll take care of your car as their own. I like their fixed rate guarantee. I was afraid that once I commit to the other companies and once the driver came to pick up my car, they’d charge up additional fees and I wouldn’t be able to refuse because I got my flight already scheduled. During the pickup, the driver called me up and told me that his truck wouldn’t be able to go inside my apartment complex. We agreed to meet up somewhere very near that was also convenient on his part. I had some luggage inside the car and he didn’t charge me extra for that. He updated me every time during the transport. He even made sure that my bumper won’t be blown away because it was a little bit wiggly. He put a tape on it and made sure that everything would be fine. During the delivery, he texted me three hours before he arrived here. He told me that his truck wouldn’t be able to enter our neighborhood because the streets were a little bit narrow. Again, we agreed to meet up somewhere that was very convenient with his truck. It’s only five-minute walk from my house.”
“This was our first attempt to ship a personal vehicle anywhere. We shipped our 2013 RAV-4 (138,000) miles from Lynn Haven FL, to Evansville IN; just over 600 miles. We started with the ** company that wanted $1,000 for this move & would not guarantee that price. A Duck-duck-Go search identified a couple of candidates, where we found Sherpa. Every person we spoke/emailed/texted was responsive and helpful. When I asked the first person I spoke with what we could do to minimize our costs, two immediately helpful suggestions. Avoid shipping during busy seasons (such as Christmas), opt for reasonable pick-up dates (not tomorrow), and give the driver as much flexibility for pick-up as you can. We ordered pick-up between 1 DEC and 7 DEC; and put down our deposit via our credit card. At one point we were asked to confirm via email & message if we were still interested. On NOV 30th we we were notified of a carrier would arrive on DEC 1 or 2; and we were billed the full $250 by Sherpa. The carrier called early on Dec 1st; picked up our RAV-4 at 11:30 AM our time; & delivered it that same evening at 11:30 PM to our daughter. She paid the driver $650; so we spent $900 to have the auto picked up at our house & delivered to our daughter’s apartment. Would definitely use Sherpa again!!”
“Just used them to transport my mom’s old 1993 Del Sol from Inverness, FL to Pittsburgh, PA. Created the request on Sat 7 Oct. Same day I received confirmation of the booking and price (lower than the other companies I contacted). Received an email on Sun 8 Oct that they were still searching for a driver. On Mon 9 Oct, I received an email indicating a driver was located. At 3 PM I received a call informing me the driver would like to pick up at 6 PM the same day. Wow that was quick. Driver arrived at 6:40 pm on Mon 9 Oct – first working day after my initial contact. The driver did call me directly to confirm the person she was to obtain the car from – my sister. Since the truck was so large and my Pittsburgh location is down narrow streets, I decided to change the delivery location to a barely used strip mall directly off the interstate. On Tue at 9:10 AM I texted the new location to my Sherpa contact. My Sherpa contact agreed and indicated the car should be delivered the same day. The driver did call me, 30 minutes before she expected to arrive at the strip mall parking lot. Wow by 6:30 PM on Tue 10 Oct the car was delivered in perfect condition. Seriously it could not have been easier or better service delivered. I highly recommend Sherpa Auto Transport!!!!”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”
“When researching companies to ship my 2012 Kia Sorento cross country Sherpa Auto Transport stood out as exceptional–by previous customers. I subsequently chose Sherpa, and they exceeded my expectations! They tell you what to expect throughout the process, and proactively followup with you at every step. Their pricing was reasonable and I even got a promised rebate for providing certain documentation at the conclusion of the shipment. The shipment went perfectly from the advanced price quote, to auto pick up, to the final delivery. Despite a snowstorm on the receiving end, my auto was delivered within 10 minutes of the agreed on meeting time– and in perfect condition. I now know first-hand why they received the top customer evaluations–they deliver on their promises & commitments! Highly Recommend for your auto transport needs!!!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in New Port Richey, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
