TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

Customer service was friendly and a rep answered all my questions. Both drivers were really nice and very professional. They communicated pretty well about picking up the car and dropping it off. The cost was made a lot of sense. For the distance, it was a fair price. The driver got here fast and the car was in good condition. It was just like the way I gave it to the driver. Sherpa is a good company. We`ll definitely refer them. If we ever need it again, we`ll definitely contact them again.

Sherpa`s reps were very helpful and friendly. It was a very organized process from the start and the price that they quoted was accurate. At the time, I had never shipped a car before. I understood the process, but was kind of leery about using a broker like Sherpa. But they gave me confidence that it would get done right and they came through. I was also leery about the carriers that they used and I wanted to make sure that a good carrier handled my car. And they used a really fantastic carrier.

I really cannot say enough great things about this company. It was slightly more (couple hundred) than the competition but l worth every penny. I have read other nightmares.. I ordered the transport and had one picking up my vehicle in a matter of hours. It took a few days to get it to me from Phoenix AZ to Tampa FL but it was ahead of their estimate. Additionally their communication couldn`t have been better, they filled me in every step of the way. I truly recommend these people.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Port St. Lucie, FL Shipping Prices

Distance

Distance plays the biggest role in your car shipping cost to or from Port St. Lucie. A short trip within Florida might cost $300-500, while cross-country shipping can run $1,000-1,500. The good news? Port St. Lucie’s location on Florida’s east coast makes it accessible for carriers traveling the I-95 corridor, which can help keep costs reasonable for routes to major cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, or New York.

Route

Port St. Lucie sits near major highways like I-95 and the Florida Turnpike, making it easier and cheaper to ship cars compared to remote areas. Routes connecting Port St. Lucie to other major cities along I-95 typically cost less because carriers run these routes regularly. If you’re shipping to a small town off the beaten path, expect to pay more since carriers need to make special detours.

Season

Winter months (December-March) are peak season for car shipping to Port St. Lucie as snowbirds flock to Florida. Expect higher prices and longer wait times during this period. Summer offers better rates and faster service. Spring and fall provide moderate pricing. Book early if you must ship during winter, or save money by shipping during the slower summer months.

Vehicle Type

Standard cars are cheapest to ship to Port St. Lucie. Large SUVs, trucks, and lifted vehicles cost 20-40% more due to their weight and size. They take up more trailer space and burn more fuel. Some carriers can’t handle oversized vehicles at all. Luxury cars might need enclosed transport, which costs more but provides better protection from Florida’s intense sun and weather.

Traffic Patterns

Avoid shipping during major travel times like Thanksgiving week, Christmas, or spring break when highways are packed. Traffic around Port St. Lucie can slow down deliveries, especially during tourist season. Plan your shipment for quieter periods when possible. This helps carriers stick to schedules and can reduce your costs.

Carrier Availability

Carrier availability to Port St. Lucie varies by season. During peak winter months, you might wait 1-3 weeks for pickup due to high demand from northerners moving south. Summer typically offers quicker service with pickups within 3-7 days. Book at least 2-3 weeks ahead during busy seasons to secure better rates and timing.

Open vs Enclosed

Open transport works fine for most cars shipping to Port St. Lucie and costs 40-60% less than enclosed. Florida’s sunny weather means your car won’t face harsh winter conditions during delivery. Choose enclosed transport only for luxury, classic, or high-value vehicles that need extra protection from road debris and weather. Most customers save money with open transport.

Population Density

Port St. Lucie’s suburban layout with wide roads makes car delivery easier and cheaper than dense urban areas. Carriers can navigate neighborhoods without the tight spaces and restrictions found in big cities. This accessibility helps keep your shipping costs down compared to delivering in crowded metro areas like Miami or Orlando.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Avoid Port St. Lucie’s peak snowbird season (November-March) when shipping costs spike. Schedule your car transport during summer months or shoulder seasons for significant savings on rates.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Choose flexible five-day pickup and delivery windows instead of exact dates. This gives carriers more scheduling options, allowing them to offer you lower rates for Port St. Lucie shipments.

Hub City Advantages

Select pickup locations near major highways like I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike around Port St. Lucie. Highway-accessible spots attract more carriers, creating competition that drives down your shipping costs.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost significantly less than enclosed options for Port St. Lucie car shipping. Reserve enclosed transport only for luxury vehicles needing extra protection from weather and road debris.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Port St. Lucie, FL Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

When planning car shipping to or from Port St. Lucie, FL, understanding Florida’s vehicle regulations is essential for a smooth transition. Florida requires new residents to register their vehicles within 30 days of establishing residency and obtain a Florida driver’s license within the same timeframe [FLHSMV]. The state does not require emissions testing for most vehicles, making auto transport simpler than many other states. However, Florida has specific window tinting laws allowing up to 28% light transmission for front side windows and 15% for rear windows [FLHSMV].

Florida’s unique insurance requirements include Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage of at least $10,000 and Property Damage Liability of $10,000 minimum [FLOIR]. Unlike northern states, vehicles shipped to Port St. Lucie won’t need winter modifications like snow tires or engine block heaters. However, consider UV protection for your vehicle’s interior due to intense Florida sun. The state allows vehicle frame heights up to 27 inches for pickup trucks and 24 inches for other vehicles [FLHSMV]. When using auto transport services to Port St. Lucie, ensure your vehicle meets these specifications beforehand. The coastal location means salt air exposure, so consider protective coatings for your shipped vehicle to prevent corrosion damage over time.
