Factors that Impact Cost

Distance is the biggest cost driver on this route, but the Florida-to-Arizona corridor runs along I-10, one of the busiest shipping lanes in the country, which keeps carrier competition high and prices competitive.

Tips and Tricks to Save

Avoid shipping during Florida’s snowbird season (October through February), when demand peaks and prices rise — even shifting your move by a few weeks can lead to meaningful savings.

How Car Shipping Works

Once your car is picked up in Florida, it travels along I-10 and typically arrives in Arizona within 3 to 7 days, with a vehicle inspection completed at both pickup and delivery to document your car’s condition.

State Insights

After your car arrives in Arizona, you must register it within 15 days of establishing residency, and if you live in Maricopa or Pima County, an emissions test is required — something Florida residents won’t be used to.

TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

My son moved back to Arizona from Florida and it’s too far to drive, so he had to get his car transported. I went on the Better Business Bureau to find different vendors and since Sherpa was getting good reviews, I trusted them. Their customer service team was excellent. The pick-up was great. They took pictures and made sure everything was in order. Whatever they said the price was, they stuck to the price and didn’t make any changes. We’ve made sure to keep their number in case we have to do anything in the future.

I had a four-door Jeep Wrangler transported from Florida to Arizona. Sherpa was very customer-service-oriented when I spoke with them. The reviews about the company really swayed me to use their service. The gal that helped me was personable and explained things well. The price lock option was very nice and I liked that. It was very helpful. Also, the final cost was reasonable. The driver was courteous. Everything worked out great. The intended purpose was fulfilled and there was great customer service.

I have a Kia and I was having it transported from Southern Arizona to Sebring, Florida. What Sherpa does is they put the bid out and different transport companies then bid on that. He was very professional when he showed up and he delivered my car safely. The car was picked up on a Tuesday morning and it was delivered on Friday. The car was delivered exactly as they said it would be. I was promised upfront by Sherpa a free car wash but my car was clean, so I didn’t use the car wash. I was very happy.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Florida to Arizona Shipping Prices

Distance

Florida to Arizona spans roughly 1,800–2,100 miles depending on your exact cities. That long haul means higher fuel and driver costs, making distance the single biggest price driver.

Route

Good news: this route runs primarily along major interstates like I-10, one of the busiest shipping corridors in the country. That means more carriers, more competition, and lower prices for you.

Season

Florida snowbirds flood this route in late fall and winter, driving prices up. Summer moves are more affordable. If you have flexibility, scheduling your shipment in spring or early fall can save you real money.

Vehicle Type

Shipping a standard sedan is always the cheapest option. Trucks and SUVs take up more trailer space, weigh more, and burn more fuel. Some carriers can’t accommodate oversized vehicles at all, which limits your options and raises your cost.

Traffic Considerations

Avoid scheduling your shipment around major travel holidays like Thanksgiving or Spring Break. Carriers get booked fast during these windows, wait times grow, and prices spike. A little planning around the calendar goes a long way.

Carrier Availability

The Florida-to-Arizona lane is well-traveled, so carriers are usually available. However, during peak snowbird season — October through February — demand surges. Book early to lock in better rates and avoid waiting weeks for pickup.

Open vs Enclosed

Open transport is cheaper and works great for most everyday vehicles on this route. If you’re shipping a luxury car, classic, or exotic vehicle, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection — but expect to pay a premium for it.

Population Density

Delivery into dense metro areas like Miami or Phoenix can cost more than suburban drop-offs. Wide suburban streets are easier for large car carriers to navigate. Consider coordinating a pickup or drop-off just outside the city to cut costs.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during the off-season can save you money. Florida’s snowbird season drives up demand and prices. Shifting your shipment by just a few weeks outside peak season can lead to noticeably lower rates.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Offering a five-day window for pickup and delivery gives carriers more scheduling options. This flexibility often translates to lower shipping costs, as carriers can better optimize their routes and loads.

Hub City Advantages

Choosing a pickup or drop-off location near major highways gives you access to more carriers and better rates. If shipping to a rural Arizona area, consider meeting the carrier at a nearby hub city to save money.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed ones and work well for most standard vehicles. If you’re shipping a luxury or classic car, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection — but expect to pay a premium for it.

HOW IT WORKS

How does Car Shipping from Florida to Arizona Work?

Picturesque view of Arizona

Florida to Arizona car shipping is a popular interstate route, covering an average distance of 2,208 miles. Whether you’re relocating, snowbirding, or sending a vehicle to a family member, professional auto transport makes the process simple and stress-free. Instead of putting thousands of miles on your car, a licensed carrier does the driving for you — safely and efficiently.

Getting started with Florida to Arizona auto transport is straightforward. First, you request a quote and book your shipment. Next, a carrier is assigned and a pickup window is scheduled. A driver will meet you at your chosen location in Florida, perform a vehicle inspection, and load your car onto the transport truck. You’ll receive a copy of the Bill of Lading — your official condition report — before the vehicle leaves your hands.

Once your vehicle is in transit, it travels along major corridors like I-10, which connects Florida and Arizona directly. This well-traveled route means carriers run it frequently, keeping costs competitive. Car shipping from Florida to Arizona typically costs between $1,025 and $1,325, depending on your exact pickup and delivery locations, the type of transport (open or enclosed), and current carrier availability. Seasonal demand — especially during the winter snowbird season — can also influence pricing.

Most customers can expect their vehicle to arrive in 3 to 7 days after pickup. When your car reaches Arizona, the driver will perform a final inspection with you to confirm it arrived in the same condition it left. Auto transport companies like Sherpa handle all the logistics, so all you need to do is prepare your vehicle — keep the gas tank at a quarter tank, remove personal items, and disable any toll tags. It’s that simple to ship your car from Florida to Arizona.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Florida to Arizona Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

Moving from Florida to Arizona comes with a few important rules to know before your car shipping journey begins. Once your vehicle arrives, Arizona requires you to register it within 15 days of establishing residency. You will need a valid title, proof of insurance, and an emissions test if you live in Maricopa or Pima County. Florida does not require emissions testing statewide, so this may be a new step for many drivers making the switch.

Vehicle laws differ between the two states in other ways as well. Florida allows window tint up to 28% on front side windows, while Arizona permits a slightly more restrictive 33% light transmission. Arizona also enforces vehicle lift and frame height rules, so if your car or truck has been modified, verify it meets state standards before completing your Florida to Arizona car shipping. Florida has no mandatory vehicle inspection program, but Arizona requires a safety and emissions check at registration time in certain counties.

Weather is another key factor to plan for after auto transport. Arizona may seem like a dry desert state, but elevations in Flagstaff and other northern areas bring real winter snow. If you plan to drive in those regions, all-season or winter tires are a smart investment. You should also prepare for extreme summer heat. Park in the shade when possible, use a windshield sunshade, and check your coolant and tire pressure regularly. Florida’s humid climate is hard on rubber seals and AC systems, so have those inspected after your vehicle arrives.

Insurance is one more area where Florida to Arizona car shipping customers should pay close attention. Florida is a no-fault insurance state, meaning your own policy covers your injuries regardless of who caused an accident. Arizona is an at-fault state, so liability coverage becomes more critical. Minimum coverage requirements also differ, and Arizona generally demands higher bodily injury limits. Contact your insurance provider before your car shipping date to update your policy and avoid any gaps in coverage during the move.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Florida to Arizona Vehicle Transport FAQs

Preparing your vehicle for car shipping from Florida to Arizona is simple. Follow these key steps to ensure a smooth and safe transit:

  • Clean your car: Wash your vehicle inside and out before pickup. This makes it easier to spot any pre-existing scratches or dents during the inspection.
  • Document the condition: Take clear photos of your vehicle from all angles. This protects you in the unlikely event of a damage claim.
  • Remove personal items: Clear out all personal belongings from the interior. Auto transport carriers are not licensed to ship household goods, and items left inside are not covered by insurance.
  • Remove accessories: Take off any exterior add-ons such as roof racks, spoilers, or custom mirrors that could be damaged or cause damage during transit.
  • Remove your toll pass: Florida’s SunPass and similar transponders should be removed to avoid unexpected toll charges during the drive.
  • Check your fluids and tire pressure: Make sure there are no fluid leaks and that your tires are properly inflated. Your car needs to be drivable for loading and unloading.
  • Leave a quarter tank of gas: Keep the fuel level low — about 25% — to reduce weight, but make sure there is enough for loading and unloading.
  • Disable your car alarm: If possible, deactivate your alarm to prevent it from going off during transport.
  • Provide a spare key: Have a working key ready to hand off to your carrier at pickup.

The sooner you book, the better. We recommend scheduling your pickup at least two weeks in advance, though booking three to four weeks ahead is ideal — especially during peak seasons like winter and spring, when Florida snowbirds are heading to warmer states like Arizona.

Booking early gives carriers more time to bundle your shipment with others along the same route, which helps keep costs down and ensures a smoother pickup window. Last-minute bookings are possible, but they often come with higher rates and limited carrier availability.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

When shipping your car from Florida to Arizona, you have two options: open transport and enclosed transport.

Open transport is the most popular and affordable choice. Your vehicle rides on an open-air trailer — the same type used to deliver cars to dealerships. It’s safe, reliable, and gets the job done for most standard vehicles.

Enclosed transport places your vehicle inside a fully covered trailer, protecting it from road debris, weather, and dust. The tradeoff? It typically costs 40–60% more than open transport. It’s best suited for:

  • Luxury or exotic cars
  • Classic or antique vehicles
  • Cars with custom paint jobs or low ground clearance

For most people shipping a standard vehicle from Florida to Arizona, open transport is the smart, cost-effective choice. But if your car holds significant monetary or sentimental value, the added peace of mind from enclosed shipping is well worth the extra cost.

Still unsure which is right for you? Check out our in-depth open vs. enclosed auto transport guide to help you decide.

Yes! Sherpa Auto Transport offers door-to-door auto transport service for all shipments from Florida to Arizona. This is the most convenient way to ship your car — no need to drop it off at a terminal or travel out of your way.

Here’s how it works: When you book your shipment, simply provide your preferred pickup address in Florida and your delivery address in Arizona. Your assigned carrier will come directly to you for pickup and deliver your vehicle as close to your front door as safely possible.

Keep in mind that large car carriers cannot always access every street or neighborhood. If your address has low-hanging trees, narrow roads, or tight turns, your driver will coordinate with you to find a safe, nearby alternative — like a local parking lot or gas station. This is common and nothing to worry about.

The bottom line: Door-to-door service saves you time and hassle, making your Florida to Arizona move as smooth as possible. It’s the standard service we provide to all of our customers.

Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket.

While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.
