What our Baton Rouge customers say about Sherpa:
“My wife’s car was involved in an accident in Dallas. I had it repaired there and then shipped back here to Baton Rouge. Scheduling the transport and pickup and delivery were flawless. I called Sherpa on a Wednesday and they contacted me back on a Thursday, then we sealed the deal. They contacted me again on Thursday and said they were picking up my wife’s car by Friday 3 o’clock. By Saturday morning at 10:30, it was sitting in my driveway all good and flawless.”
“I needed to ship a Range Rover from New York to where I am in Louisiana. I found Sherpa and they provided me an okay quote. My interactions with their reps were very good and they helped me with everything I needed to know. The move took three or four days and the driver they sent was excellent. I’m very satisfied with Sherpa. I shipped my car last year with a different company and it was horrible. I had the perfect experience with Sherpa and I really enjoyed having this company.”
“My vehicle was transported from Louisiana to Virginia promptly and without a hitch. Great service.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Baton Rouge Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The distance between Baton Rouge and the destination city is a key factor in car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer hauls.
- Transport Type: Open car carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Baton Rouge. Enclosed trailers offer extra protection from Louisiana’s humid climate and occasional severe weather but cost about 50% more and may have longer wait times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Accessibility: Baton Rouge’s location along I-10 and I-12 makes it easily accessible for car carriers, potentially reducing costs. However, shipping to or from more remote areas of Louisiana may increase prices.
- Seasonal Factors: Auto transport demand in Baton Rouge can fluctuate with university schedules and tourism seasons. Summer months and January often see higher prices due to increased demand.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship as they can be driven onto the carrier. Non-running cars require special equipment, increasing the cost.
- Flexibility: Being flexible with pickup and delivery dates can lead to lower car shipping costs. Rush or guaranteed delivery services will increase the price.
To get a better understanding of how these factors affect your specific auto transport needs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. For more information on choosing between open and enclosed transport options, visit our open vs. enclosed car shipping guide.
Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Baton Rouge car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling vehicles along I-10 or I-12.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is the most cost-effective option for auto transport to or from Baton Rouge, LA. It offers greater flexibility and lower rates compared to enclosed shipping.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-10 or I-110. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates for your Baton Rouge car shipping. Consider weekday transport options, as they may be less expensive than weekend services.
- Consider seasonal timing: Auto transport rates to and from Baton Rouge may fluctuate based on seasonal demand. If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer for potentially lower prices.

Reviews from our Louisiana Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Louisiana customers:
“Sherpa was very responsive and professional. For a first timer I was nervous all the way until my daughter had the keys back in her hand. Sherpa did an unbelievable job. We were transporting my daughter’s jeep uncovered from Louisville, Kentucky to Baton Rouge. She had some clothes and stuff in there, which they worked with me on. They showed up and gave us a good notice on when they could come and pick up the car. It was very easy. They had to then coordinate with my daughter and ended up having to send her roommate. It was just an extremely positive deal all the way around. The best thing they do well is the communication part because I got a lot of emails all the way through the process, even when we were trying to figure out who was going to actually be the transporter. It took them a few days to find somebody to do it for the price they had quoted to the point where I was getting a little bit nervous. But they communicated every day about what they were doing. I’ve already given Sherpa’s name to somebody else and I’ll use them again. My daughter is in her second year down in Baton Rouge and I’m sure I’ll be spending more and more money getting her back and forth in the summers. I won’t even shop next time and call Sherpa right back.”
“I was moving from Louisiana to Maryland and I didn’t feel like driving my Jeep Wrangler. I looked up transport companies on the internet and I tried to find the one that had the best rating. And although Sherpa was the most expensive, I decided to go with them because of their rep that was more knowledgeable than anybody else. I wanted it there on the 13th and everybody else told me I had to have it picked up by the 6th but she said I could have it picked up on the 11th and it will get there on the 13th. And that was what I wanted but I didn’t think it was possible. She just seemed like she knew what she was talking about and so, I believed her and she was right. Also, their initial quote was accurate. The driver didn’t speak very good English. He had parked down the street but it was my first time living here and I didn’t know exactly where it was. It caused back and forth and it took a lot longer than it would have if he could have just spoken in English. But he wasn’t very far and I just didn’t know that. Other than that, the Jeep was fine when it arrived. It was dirty but that was to be expected.”
“Of all the places I called, Sherpa seemed like the most genuine in terms of wanting to help me have a good experience. I was very pleased with the rep that helped me set up the transport. Also, being in touch with the driver was really helpful.”
“Sherpa was the quickest to get back to me and they had the best reviews. They were prompt, courteous, and the driver was particularly good. They didn’t say they were gonna use a covered transport, but they did, which I thought was nice. The driver was very punctual. I needed it at a certain time and he was there that day. He was earlier than they promised. They had to move it up, and they were very accommodating. He would also call me. He’d tell me where he was and he was very transparent. The quote was also fair and reasonable.”
“Sherpa provided the best transport service that I could have chosen. The quotes were as advertised. The transport vendor maintained communications throughout the shipment. Timeliness was exemplary. The door-to- door from Fredericksburg, VA to Hammond, LA was perfect.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Baton Rouge, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Louisiana. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
