TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

I almost never do reviews, but I was so pleased with the overall experience related to the transport of my car from Boston to Boynton Beach that I decided to write this review. I have used other services with much frustration and dissatisfaction, however, Sherpa offered an aggravation free experience from start to finish. Everything went smoothly and my car arrived sooner than I expected in perfect condition. It was quite dirty, but Sherpa will reimburse me $20 to have it cleaned. I’m delighted.

Sherpa has now transported my car across the country twice. Both times they have been timely, courteous and expeditious. My car arrived undamaged both times. When my car arrived most recently, one of the tires had gone flat because there was a nail in it. That likely happened *before* we loaded it on the truck since it was wedged in deeply enough to create a leak. The driver was able to inflate the tire at delivery so that we could drive safely home, and then to the tire shop. Courteous and reliable service!

It was incredibly easy, I called Sherpa, gave them all the information to transport my car from Florida to Massachusetts, it was effortless and I had no worries or issues! KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Newton, MA Shipping Prices

Distance

Distance plays a major role in shipping costs. The further your car needs to travel to or from Newton, MA, the higher the price. A cross-country shipment from Newton to California will cost significantly more than a regional move to a neighboring state like New York or Connecticut.

Route

Your shipping route matters. Newton sits near major highways like I-90 and I-95, which is great news for your wallet. Routes along these major corridors are cheaper because carriers run them regularly. If you’re shipping to or from a remote area off the beaten path, expect to pay more.

Season

Timing affects your cost. Summer months and early fall see higher demand for car shipping, which drives up prices. Winter tends to be slower, especially January and February, when you can often find better rates. Plan ahead to avoid peak season pricing if possible.

Vehicle Type

What you’re shipping matters. Standard sedans are the cheapest to transport. SUVs and trucks cost more because they’re heavier (using more fuel) and harder to load. Some trailers can’t even accommodate larger vehicles. The bigger and heavier your vehicle, the more you’ll pay.

Traffic Patterns

Heavy travel periods increase costs. The week before Thanksgiving, Christmas, and other major holidays see packed roads and higher demand. If you can avoid these peak travel times, you’ll likely save money and get faster service.

Carrier Availability

Carrier availability varies by season. During peak summer months, you might wait several weeks for a carrier. In the off-season, carriers are often available within days. Booking early gives you more options and better pricing, especially during busy periods.

Open vs Enclosed

Trailer type impacts cost significantly. Open trailers are the standard and most affordable option—perfect for everyday vehicles. Enclosed trailers cost more but protect luxury, classic, or high-end cars from weather and road debris. Most Newton residents choose open transport and save money.

Population Density

Newton’s location affects pricing. While Newton itself is accessible, it’s part of the greater Boston metro area. Dense urban areas with narrow streets and traffic can increase costs. If possible, consider meeting your carrier at a more accessible suburban location with easier truck access to potentially save money.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during the off-season can significantly reduce your costs. Peak seasons like summer and snowbird migration periods drive up demand and prices. By scheduling your shipment just a few weeks earlier or later, you can avoid these busy times and secure better rates for your Newton car transport.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lower your shipping costs. By offering carriers a five-day window instead of exact dates, you make it easier for them to route your vehicle efficiently. This flexibility allows carriers to optimize their schedules, and they pass those savings directly to you.

Hub City Advantages

Newton’s proximity to major highways like I-90 and I-95 works in your favor. Choose pickup locations near these routes for more carrier options and competitive pricing. If shipping to rural areas, consider meeting carriers at nearby highway-accessible cities to reduce costs and improve availability.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed options and work well for most vehicles. They’re the standard choice for everyday cars and offer reliable protection during transport. However, if you’re shipping a luxury, classic, or high-value vehicle, an enclosed trailer provides extra protection worth the additional investment.

Open auto transport is the most common and affordable option, where your vehicle is shipped on an open-air trailer alongside other cars. It’s perfectly safe for most vehicles and costs less because carriers can transport more cars at once.

Enclosed auto transport provides full protection inside a covered trailer, shielding your vehicle from weather and road debris. This option typically costs 50-60% more than open transport.

For most Newton, MA residents shipping standard vehicles, open transport works great. Choose enclosed transport if you have a luxury car, classic vehicle, exotic sports car, or a custom paint job that needs extra protection. Learn more in our open vs enclosed auto transport guide.
