What our Kansas City customers say about Sherpa:
“This was my first time ever shipping a car and it was a great experience! Will with Sherpa answered every question I had, was quick to respond to all of my questions, and even gave me some questions to ask other car transport companies while I was researching companies. I ultimately came back to Sherpa. I appreciated the price lock guarantee. I booked the car transport late Friday, and Will followed up the next day with me to confirm the details. I had no set schedule for when I needed the car delivered, but they found a driver right away. My car was picked up in Kansas City on Monday evening and delivered Wednesday night to my home in California in perfect shape. The driver was communicative and efficient. I couldn’t believe how fast and easy the process was. Thank you, Sherpa!”
“Moving my car from Kansas City to Seattle, Washington was quick. The truck was in Kansas City before I was. They waited until I arrived to load the car. It took them two days to travel 1800 miles. The car was delivered unmarred at 7:00 AM.”
“This is the second vehicle I have had delivered by Sherpa. They are fast. Very fast. Compared to others I have used in the past which took much longer to lock in on a driver Sherpa had one in no time and was very good about communicating on both ends. Letting me know ahead of time everything. When my jeep arrived on this side the battery had died on it because it was several years old. Alex jump started it and got me taken care of. Very helpful and friendly. Pricing is outstanding as well. I will use again.”

Factors that affect Kansas City Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Kansas City, MO. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to Kansas City. Enclosed transport, while about 50% pricier and potentially slower, offers extra protection for high-value vehicles against Missouri’s varied weather conditions.
- Location Accessibility: Kansas City’s central location and major highways like I-70 and I-35 make it relatively easy to access, potentially lowering shipping costs. However, rural areas outside the city may incur higher fees.
- Seasonal Factors: Car shipping prices to Kansas City can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months and January typically see higher rates due to increased demand. Winter weather in Missouri can also affect transport times and costs.
- Vehicle Specifications: The size, weight, and condition of your car impact shipping costs. Larger or inoperable vehicles are more expensive to transport to or from Kansas City.
- Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can reduce your auto transport costs to Kansas City. Rush or guaranteed pickup services will increase the price.
Understanding these factors can help you manage your car shipping costs to or from Kansas City more effectively. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Kansas City car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.

- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Consult with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-70 or I-35. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and potential liability issues during auto transport.
- Be flexible: Offering date flexibility for pickup and delivery can lead to better options and potential savings on your car shipping services.
- Consider seasonal timing: Kansas City’s weather can impact car transport costs. Summer months often see higher demand, while winter may offer lower rates but potential weather-related delays.
- Explore multi-car discounts: If you’re shipping multiple vehicles to or from Kansas City, MO, ask about potential multi-car discounts to reduce overall costs.

Reviews from our Missouri Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Missouri customers:
“I called several companies and decided to use Sherpa. I read a lot of reviews saying that there were a lot of scammers out there adding cost at delivery, and Sherpa has a price guarantee, which turned out we had to use. The reviews online also put them on top, even though I could find some that were less expensive and some that were more expensive. Their reps were very responsive. In fact, when I hadn’t heard something for a while and because it was gonna be the next week that my pickup was supposed to be, I called and they said that’s not uncommon. They assured me that everything would be okay. The 2012 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was shipped uncovered. They said they had covered as an option, but it was more costly. Sherpa subcontracts to various vendors and it might have been the first time that they used the vendor they ended up with, but it was fine. The only thing was the number of hours in advance for telling me when the car would be picked up or dropped off weren’t accurate, but they were all within the same day. For example, when my brother got a call from the driver, he said he could drop it off in an hour, and my brother said, “Well, I got an MRI. I’m not gonna be here.” However, it wasn’t a problem because it turned out my brother’s spouse was able to be home and they came and it worked out fine.”
“I purchased a new vehicle in Texas and needed it transported to my new home in Missouri. The dealership I custom built and purchased my car from recommended Sherpa for transportation. They were extremely easy to reach out to, answered all of my questions without hesitation, were very friendly, and kept me updated throughout the entire experience. They found a carrier to pick up my car from the dealership the first day I had requested pickup (10/3), and my car was to me from Texas to Missouri in less than 24 hours from pickup(10/4)! The driver was also very kind and easy to keep in contact with. My new car arrived without so much as a single scratch, it was in perfect condition. I will definitely be using Sherpa again in the future!”
“Vlad was the driver of the truck hauling my car from California to Missouri. Very professional and experienced. Move.org recommends Sherpa and 2 other auto transport companies. I’m very happy with Sherpa Auto Transport and would recommend them for your auto transport needs.”
“This process of shipping my vehicle couldn’t have been any better than it was. From the time I made my first call to Sherpa and spoke with a very professional and knowledgeable customer service agent lady to the gentleman who picked up and delivered my vehicle. Only thing I would’ve changed was I was only given a 30 minute heads up that my vehicle was going to be picked up. I had to leave work to make it happen but it all worked out. Thank you so much for a great experience!”
“This vehicle transport was the best experience I had while moving to another state. No hidden costs. It cost me what I was quoted. Driver who was the same as the one that delivered my car was professional and very friendly. He even went out of his way to drive my car to my driveway when the police would not let him go down the street that I moved to because of the size of the trailer. I would use them again if I needed to and recommend them to anyone.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Kansas City, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Missouri. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
