What our Leland customers say about Sherpa:
“They couldn’t find a driver for the time that we had slotted, but it was also the holidays. It wasn’t a bad experience and we weren’t in any rush so it wasn’t a big deal for us anyway. We got emails saying they were trying to find drivers daily and then when they finally found one we then got calls. The vehicle was delivered the next night after it was picked up.”
“The experience with Sherpa Auto Transport was seamless and the price was fair. I picked the transport company based on their D&B. It was a local transport firm in Charlotte. We live on close to a waterway, south of the Cape Fear River, which is Wilmington, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.”
“Sherpa’s cost was the most competitive out of most of the places that I’ve looked and it didn’t have any hidden fees. The rep was very helpful and emails very promptly. He kept me informed throughout the process. The transport went very smoothly. The two guys who picked up the car were nice. They called, texted and kept us up to date on what was going on.”

Factors that affect Leland Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Leland, NC. Longer distances generally mean higher prices. For example, shipping a car from Leland to Miami will cost less than transporting it to Los Angeles.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport in Leland. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but are about 50% more expensive and may have longer delivery times. They’re typically used for high-value or classic cars.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier. This is particularly relevant when shipping to or from Leland, where many residents own larger vehicles for beach trips.
- Seasonality: Car shipping prices in Leland can fluctuate based on the time of year. Summer months and January tend to be more expensive due to higher demand. Leland’s mild climate means less seasonal variation compared to other regions, but prices may still be affected.
- Route Popularity: Shipping to or from Leland might be more affordable if your route aligns with popular corridors like I-40 or US-17. Less frequented routes could incur higher costs due to lower carrier availability.
- Delivery Timeframe: If you need expedited shipping to or from Leland, expect to pay more. Standard delivery windows are more cost-effective but require flexibility in your schedule.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to transport as they can be driven onto the carrier. Inoperable cars require special equipment, increasing the cost of auto transport services in Leland.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Leland car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Open car shipping is typically more affordable than enclosed transport. It offers greater flexibility for negotiating lower rates, especially for standard vehicles.
- Pick strategic locations: Discuss with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors about convenient pickup and drop-off points near major highways like I-40 or US-17. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers.
- Remove personal items: Empty your vehicle before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates liability concerns for personal belongings.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better auto transport rates. Consider weekday shipping, which may be less expensive than weekends.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons like summer. Shipping your car to or from Leland, NC during off-peak times can result in lower prices.
- Prepare your vehicle: Ensure your car is in good running condition. A well-maintained vehicle is easier to load and unload, potentially reducing handling costs.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Leland?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. Reviews from our North Carolina Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied North Carolina customers:
“We were in transition, moving from California to North Carolina, so we had several vehicles and one of them was an older Jeep Wrangler that I wanted to send to my son. He`s in Baltimore, Maryland. So, it’s from San Diego to Baltimore, Maryland. Our plans were very fluid early in the summer so originally, we arranged with Sherpa to send the vehicle to North Carolina in May. That changed because we figured out that we needed the vehicle in California through the summer. So, I contacted Sherpa and put it on hold until September. They were good to work with. They put it on hold like I requested and followed up several times to make sure things were still on track and to get good timing. Once our plans were firmed up, I was able to reach back out to them and we arranged the transport very quickly. We were living on our boat this summer and the guy came one night. I explained that to him and that we were with the Jeep. This was on the day of the pickup and I told him there was no rush. Any time that night was fine and he could just text me and let me know when he was there and I would meet him out front. And that’s exactly what happened. It was great. We looked over the vehicle and he did probably as good of a job as I did in terms of documenting the condition of the vehicle. Then he was good to go. I didn`t need to watch him load it onto his truck. He did that and I went back down to the boat. It all hinged on communication and it was very good.”
“You can`t go wrong with Sherpa! I admit that I initially placed an order with a different company — two companies actually. Neither could find a driver to transport my brand new Genesis GV70 from NC to NV in an enclosed trailer. I even paid the first company in full, and six days later they hadn`t even tried to find a driver. So eight days after buying a car in NC, I called Sherpa. The Sherpa rep explained the process of basically bidding for a space on a truck, and put me on hold while she looked up the current rate. To put it simply, with a low ball rate, the car is going to sit there. A more competitive rate will get it picked up quicker. I asked her point blank how quickly she thought she could find a driver. She said there was a 96% chance of picking up the car within 4 days. Because I placed the order before noon EDST, she was able to get the order posted that same day. Mind you, this was two days before the July 4th weekend, during a pandemic. Just over 24 hours later I received a call from Mavistar who had accepted the order. And 24 hours after that I received a personal text from the Mavistar driver who confirmed he had picked up my car and would be updating me on his progress as he drove across the country. This driver was AWESOME. He texted or called me every night and updated me on his ETA. Six days after I placed my order, my car was sitting in my driveway in pristine condition. You get what you pay for. If you want budget-level customer service, go with a different company. Sherpa prides itself on doing business the right way, and that they did! I couldn`t be happier with them.”
“I used Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a Jeep from Charlotte, NC to Austin, TX two weeks ago and was very pleased with their service. They were very easy to work with, kept in contact with me, followed up on any questions, picked up and delivered as scheduled, and were fairly priced. When the carrier Sherpa hired to transport my vehicle had not contact me as planned, I called Sherpa who immediately contacted the carrier, then followed up to see that the carrier had called me. At each stage of the process, Sherpa kept me up to date with emails as to the status of the transport. The driver for the carrier communicated with me on the days of pickup and delivery as to the specific time (within an hour) and location for pick-up and drop-off, as the truck was too large for some neighborhood streets. The driver also took good care loading, securing, and unloading my vehicle. I worked primarily with one contact at Sherpa for the entire process but when she wasn’t available her colleague addressed and followed up on my question quickly. I highly recommend that Sherpa Auto Transport be considered for any of your vehicle transport needs.”
“Used Sherpa to ship my son’s car from North Carolina to Seattle. They had a four day window to schedule a pick pick up. They did an exceptional work locating a carrier and emphasizing that the car must be picked up by a certain date. They kept me well informed about the progress. Mike from Sherpa called and emailed multiple times a day with updates. The car was picked up and delivered in less than a week. The carrier Diesel Auto Express were awesome as well. This was a great and smooth experience, they even pay to have your car washed. Highly recommend Sherpa.”
“Definitely 5 stars. We shipped a car from Chapel Hill NC to Seattle WA. The professional staff at Sherpa had excellent customer service, gave clear information, the car transfer happened exactly as described, and the process seemed flawless. I know a lot of hard work goes into each car transfer, so it`s clear that their staff, processes, and systems are working very well. I will be telling anyone who asks about car transport companies that Sherpa is definitely the company to contact when you need to ship a car anywhere in the country.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Leland, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of North Carolina. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
