TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

Consumer Affairs
Sherpa provided great, accurate information from start to finish. Everyone I spoke to on my the phone or via email was professional, attentive, and efficient. The price I was quoted was the price I paid. The driver (Leo) that Sherpa hired also communicated perfectly with me and took great care in loading my vehicle in CA and unloading it in PA. When it comes time to retire in CA, I’ll be calling Sherpa. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Smooth experience from getting a quote online to car delivery! Reservation was very easy to schedule, Sherpa representative was great at communicating and explaining the process. They were transparent about the cost breakdown (which was a competitive, fair price). Didn’t have any issues with the price going up once they confirmed a driver (as I had read doing research about car transport companies, Sherpa actually guarantees the price). The driver, Nick, was very nice and professional – kept me in the loop from pick up to drop off times and locations! He took great care of my car (I was also able to load up to 100lbs of additional items)! Overall perfect experience, thank you!

I am extremely satisfied with Sherpa Auto Transport and recommend them to all. I used them to transport my car from Bradenton, Florida to Doylestown, Pennsylvania. This was the first time I shipped my car and I couldn’t be more satisfied. They clearly explained the process to me and were friendly and professional. My car was picked up on time and delivered back to PA in 2 days. They provided timely and thorough communication throughout the entire process. I will definitely use them again.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Pennsylvania Shipping Prices

Distance

Longer distances naturally increase shipping costs. A cross-country transport from Pennsylvania to California will cost significantly more than a regional move to neighboring states.

Route

Major highways like I-80 or I-76 offer cheaper shipping rates. Rural routes with limited carrier traffic require detours, increasing your overall transportation costs.

Season

Summer and fall see higher demand and prices. Winter shipping often offers better rates, though weather may cause delays in Pennsylvania’s snow-prone regions.

Vehicle Type

Larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks cost more to ship. They’re heavier, consume more trailer space, and require additional fuel, increasing carrier expenses.

Traffic Patterns

Holiday periods create congestion and delays. Shipping during off-peak times helps carriers move faster, potentially reducing your costs and improving delivery speed.

Carrier Availability

High-demand seasons mean fewer available carriers. You may wait longer for pickup or pay premium rates when carrier capacity is limited across Pennsylvania routes.

Open vs Enclosed

Open trailers are the budget-friendly option. Enclosed transport costs more but protects luxury or classic vehicles from weather and road debris during transit.

Population Density

Dense urban areas like Philadelphia face traffic and access challenges. Suburban and rural Pennsylvania locations may offer easier pickup but limited carrier availability.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping your car during the off-season can significantly reduce costs. Even waiting a few weeks to avoid peak demand periods makes a difference. Plan ahead to take advantage of lower rates during slower months.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Offering a five-day window for pickup and delivery helps carriers optimize their routes. This flexibility allows them to consolidate shipments efficiently, passing savings directly to you. Rigid schedules cost more.

Hub City Advantages

Select pickup locations near major Pennsylvania highways like I-76, I-80, or I-95. Highway-accessible locations attract more carriers, increasing competition and lowering your rates. Remote areas limit options and raise prices significantly.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed options for standard vehicles. They’re safe, reliable, and widely available. Unless you’re shipping a luxury or classic car, open transport offers excellent value.

PA Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

When planning car shipping to Pennsylvania, understanding the state’s vehicle requirements helps ensure a smooth transition. Pennsylvania requires all vehicles to undergo annual safety inspections and emissions testing in certain counties [PennDOT]. After using auto transport services, new residents have 60 days to register their vehicle and obtain a Pennsylvania title [PennDOT].

Pennsylvania law permits window tinting on rear and back side windows, but the front windshield can only have tinting above the manufacturer’s AS-1 line [PennDOT]. The state also enforces specific vehicle height and modification regulations for safe road use. Insurance requirements include minimum liability coverage of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for bodily injury, plus $5,000 for property damage [Pennsylvania Insurance Department].

Winter weather significantly impacts driving in Pennsylvania, making seasonal preparation essential. Consider equipping your vehicle with winter tires before or after car shipping, especially if moving from warmer climates. Pennsylvania experiences harsh winters with heavy snowfall, particularly in northern and western regions [National Weather Service]. Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle and ensure your battery, antifreeze, and windshield wipers are winter-ready. Many auto transport companies recommend scheduling shipments outside peak winter months when possible to avoid weather-related delays.

When shipping your vehicle to campus, research parking permit requirements early—many universities have limited spots and waitlists [University]. Off-campus storage facilities near universities offer seasonal options during winter and summer breaks, helping students avoid daily parking fees [Storage Association]. First-year students should verify their school’s vehicle policies, as some institutions restrict freshman parking [University]. Plan your car shipment 2-3 weeks before the semester starts to ensure availability during peak moving season.

Military Car Shipping

Pennsylvania hosts several key military installations, including Carlisle Barracks (home to the U.S. Army War College), Letterkenny Army Depot, and the Defense Distribution Center Susquehanna [DoD]. Upon arrival, military personnel have 30 days to register vehicles with PennDOT and must provide orders, proof of insurance, and a valid military ID [PennDOT]. Active-duty members are exempt from Pennsylvania emissions testing if maintaining out-of-state registration [PennDOT]. Sherpa Auto Transport offers military discounts and works directly with base transportation offices to ensure seamless door-to-door delivery, accommodating the unique timelines and requirements of military relocations throughout the Commonwealth.

Consumer Affairs
Sherpa charges a reasonable price for the service they provide, and everything was to my liking. I called them, gave the information and explained that I was shopping around for the best price. They explained to me what their price would be, how they came up with their price and explained that there was also a $100 rebate after the fact. All in all, my interaction was good. The vehicle had been in a pretty sever accident prior to it going to Sherpa, and when I got it from them, it was in great shape.

Sherpa was the only company who emailed back and they were personable. I appreciate that they left their personal name and email address when they emailed. It wasn`t just from a generic Sherpa transport thing. You had one dedicated person to your situation. We were texting with the driver who picked up and they dropped it off right outside our house. There were no scratches, no nothing. I would recommend Sherpa. It`s the only one worth trying `cause the others suck.

I had called quite a few transport companies and Most of them felt were trying to hide prices, fees, or scheduling issues until you had paid them. Called Sherpa, they were clear with the pricing, communicated quickly, and had my car here two days earlier than expected. The driver was good and able to work with me on the delivery to make sure it went smooth for both of us. I don`t expect to need to do this again, but if I did I would use Sherpa to coordinate.

This was not the cheapest quote I received but I went with Sherpa based on the good reviews and ratings I read. I had a fair firm price quote and figured I would get conscientious service. It worked out great. The car was picked up in Florida on a Wednesday and delivered to Pennsylvania by Friday afternoon. The driver Sherpa provided was very professional at both ends and the car was delivered with no damage. I was very satisfied with Sherpa.

Yelp
My Sherpa experience was wonderful! I purchased a used car from out of state and needed to find reasonable and reliable transport. Sherpa`s quote was lower than several others, AND the customer service and communication were great throughout. My car was assigned a hauler within a couple of days, and the car was here the next day after pickup (Illinois to Pennsylvania). The driver arrived as scheduled and was very professional and friendly. I would use Sherpa again!

The cost to ship a car typically ranges from $500 to $1,500, depending on several key factors:

Distance: Longer routes cost more. Shipping within Pennsylvania is less expensive than cross-country transport.

Vehicle type: Larger vehicles like SUVs and trucks cost more than sedans due to their size and weight.

Season: Prices peak during summer months when demand is highest. Winter rates are often lower.

Transport type: Open transport is more affordable, while enclosed transport offers extra protection at a higher price.

For an accurate quote on your Pennsylvania car shipment, contact Sherpa Auto Transport today. We’ll provide transparent pricing with no hidden fees.

Auto transport times typically range from 1 to 10 days, depending on the distance and route.

For Pennsylvania shipments:

  • Local or regional moves (within 500 miles): 1-3 days
  • Mid-range distances (500-1,500 miles): 3-5 days
  • Cross-country shipments (over 1,500 miles): 5-10 days

Several factors can affect transit time, including weather conditions, traffic, carrier schedules, and pickup/delivery locations. Rural areas may add 1-2 days compared to major cities.

At Sherpa Auto Transport, we provide accurate delivery estimates and keep you updated throughout the shipping process.

Yes, your vehicle is insured during transport. All carriers in the Sherpa Auto Transport network are required to carry cargo insurance that covers your vehicle while it’s being shipped.

Sherpa Auto Transport also provides additional coverage for extra peace of mind. Before your shipment, you’ll receive proof of insurance from your assigned carrier, which includes details about the coverage limits and policy information.

We recommend documenting your vehicle’s condition with photos before transport. This helps ensure a smooth claims process in the rare event that damage occurs during shipping.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

For the best rates and availability, we recommend booking your Pennsylvania auto transport 1-2 weeks in advance for standard shipments.

However, timing can vary based on several factors:

  • Peak seasons: Summer months and snowbird season (October-November and March-April) are busier. Book 2-4 weeks ahead during these times.
  • Route popularity: Common routes like Philadelphia to Florida fill up faster than less-traveled routes.
  • Vehicle type: Specialty vehicles or enclosed transport may need more lead time.

Need to ship sooner? We offer rush shipping options with as little as 24-48 hours notice, though rates will be higher.

The earlier you book, the more carrier options you’ll have and the better your rate will typically be. Contact us today for a free quote and current availability.

The Price Lock Promise is Sherpa Auto Transport’s guarantee that the price you’re quoted is the price you’ll pay—no surprises, no hidden fees.

When you book with us, your rate is locked in. We won’t raise it later like some companies do. What you see is what you get, from quote to delivery.

This promise gives you peace of mind and protects your budget when shipping your car to or from Pennsylvania.

Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket.

While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.

We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. We can also ship electric vehicles.
