What our Roanoke customers say about Sherpa:
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left Texas on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm!”
“I am truly grateful I found Sherpa Auto Transport. This was my first time arranging transportation and needless to say it was really overwhelming. I went online and found so many companies, but just had no idea how the process even worked. I contacted some and got quotes from a lot of them, but it was just frustrating because I wasn’t convinced by any. What made up my mind was that Sherpa was the only one that actually took the time to explain how the process worked. They were extremely nice and patient with me. I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable.”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines. I decided to contact Sherpa as I had received a quote from them when I began to shop for auto transporters, but now I was desperate. The agent I dealt with from Sherpa was Kate and she had solutions not excuses.”

Factors that affect Roanoke Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey greatly impacts car shipping costs to or from Roanoke, TX. Longer distances typically result in higher prices, but the per-mile rate often decreases for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping in Roanoke. Enclosed transport, while about 50% more expensive, offers added protection from weather and road debris. This is ideal for high-value or classic cars, especially considering Roanoke’s hot summers and occasional severe storms.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, cost more to ship due to the space and weight they occupy on the carrier. This is an important factor for Roanoke residents, as many Texans prefer larger vehicles.
- Pickup and Delivery Locations: Roanoke’s proximity to major highways like I-35W and US-377 can help reduce costs. However, if you’re shipping to or from more remote areas of Texas, expect higher prices.
- Seasonal Demand: Auto transport prices in Roanoke can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months and January typically see higher demand and prices, while spring and fall may offer more competitive rates.
- Fuel Prices: As a major factor in transport costs, fluctuating fuel prices in Texas can affect your car shipping quote to or from Roanoke.
- Flexibility: Being flexible with your pickup and delivery dates can often result in lower car shipping costs. Sherpa Auto Transport offers a cost-effective five-day pickup window for budget-conscious customers.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipment at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles from Roanoke, TX.
- Choose open transport: Open shipping provides the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport is typically more cost-effective.
- Optimize pickup/dropoff locations: Consult with Sherpa advisors to find convenient locations near major highways like I-35W or US-377. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues. Car shipping companies aren’t responsible for items left in the vehicle.
- Be flexible: Offering flexibility in pickup and delivery dates and locations can help you secure better rates. This allows carriers to optimize their routes and potentially offer more competitive pricing for your Roanoke car shipping needs.
- Consider seasonal timing: Auto transport rates can fluctuate based on seasonal demand. If possible, plan your car shipment during off-peak times to potentially secure lower rates for shipping a car to or from Roanoke, TX.

In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Roanoke?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I found Sherpa very open and honest about the entire process, how they find drivers, what kind of insurance they have, what to expect, and what to watch out for. I like that they were very upfront with me about everything. Also, the rep was very patient in answering all my questions. I reserved a date but I told them I wasn`t sure what my exact date would be. I wanted a week to week flexibility so they did that. They put it on hold so they wouldn`t find a driver till I was ready to ship the car. The pickup and delivery were very smooth. The driver called us and told me when he got delayed a little because of traffic. He texted me several times to tell me how far he was. He couldn`t drive up right to my house because of the trees that we have and he told me that he didn`t want to risk the cars getting scratched, which was very nice. I appreciated that. We found a place where it was open and he could pull up without causing damage to anything. It was pretty well-organized and he knew what he was doing. He did the walkthrough with me, all of the pre-conditions when he picked up and then when he dropped off. It was a good experience.”
“Sherpa had one of the easiest websites to navigate, and then they recognized right away that with my vehicle, they couldn`t give me a quote online. They told me to call. Other websites gave me a quote and then changed it later because they realized the dimensions are not quite the same. So, I appreciated the straightforwardness of Sherpa. It was super easy to schedule a pickup. My car got there in less time than I thought it would take, and then my parents on the other end said it was really easy to pick it up and it was painless. So, everything was pretty easy. Communication with the driver was not too much, thank goodness, because I wouldn`t have wanted too much either. He called me when he was about an hour away, and then he called me when he arrived. Then, on the other end, he called my parents when he was about an hour away. He got there the night before, so he called my mom the next morning and my mom was able to go and pick it up that morning at her convenience. Overall, Sherpa was easy to book and there weren`t any surprises. Everything was very clear and straightforward and I`d use Sherpa again.”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren`t the cheapest but they weren`t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”
“I spoke to Dylan on the phone and he was very polite and very cordial. He helped me get through the process and he was able to help me with all my questions very easily and was able to find me a good quote within the desired schedule that I had. Also, the price lock guarantee was one of the characteristics I really liked working with Sherpa. The driver was very polite. They helped me take my car from the road onto the truck and they seemed like a generally pleasant person to talk to. They didn`t speak English that properly but he was able to communicate and helped me set up both the pick-up and drop-off pretty well. They contacted me hours before the drop-off. But when they went to pick it up, they told me 15 minutes beforehand and I wasn`t ready so we had to reschedule.”
“Sherpa was rated by the Better Business Bureau very well. They had high customer ratings. They gave a reasonable price that wasn`t too high but wasn`t alarmingly low either. Most of the other companies just seemed like a scam. After I researched everything, I already knew that I was gonna go with Sherpa and hire them to do the booking part. I was transporting my wife`s vehicle so she didn`t have to drive across the country. Sherpa had a really good pledge where they offered a portion of money. If they couldn`t get the vehicle transported within the time slot that I allotted, they would add additional funding to try to increase the transporters to take it. That was the selling point for me. It was a last minute pickup. I needed the vehicle picked up within five days of contacting Sherpa and they were able to do so. The customer service and the drivers that they hired were all well. The driver called the day of and said that he was in Austin and that he was gonna be there for the day so he could pick up the car. We told him it would be a few hours, so he waited for us and picked up the car with no issues. The vehicle was picked up in the allotted time. Delivery-wise, they were ahead of schedule. The driver communicated when he was a few hours out that he was running early. Even though I wasn`t able to be there, my sister was. It was a smooth handoff.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Roanoke, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
