What our The Woodlands customers say about Sherpa:
“There was a little bit of confusion with the transporter. He called and asked if he could show up that day but I was already at work. I work 45 miles away, so he rescheduled and showed up the next day. When he loaded the vehicle, he took tons of pictures. He was super professional. When he got ready to deliver the vehicle, my sister said he called at 10:30 at night, wanting to deliver the vehicle. They told him he had to come in the morning which he did. I was happy with Sherpa. When we`ll bring the van back in the fall, I`ll use them again.”
“We were very happy with Sherpa in transporting a car from Texas to our daughter in college in Boston. The car was picked up promptly and the driver was experienced and professional. We had no issues and were updated as to when the car would reach the destination.”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect The Woodlands Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to The Woodlands, TX significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but the cost per mile often decreases for longer trips.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping rates. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open car transport is the most common and affordable option for shipping to or from The Woodlands. Enclosed transport, while pricier, offers extra protection from weather and road debris, which can be beneficial during Texas’s hot summers or occasional storms.
- Season: Auto transport prices in The Woodlands can fluctuate with the seasons. Summer months often see higher demand and prices, while winter might offer more competitive rates.
- Route Popularity: The Woodlands’ proximity to major highways like I-45 and I-69 can positively impact shipping costs, as these routes are frequently traveled by auto transport carriers.
- Delivery Timeframe: If you need expedited shipping to or from The Woodlands, expect to pay more. Flexible delivery windows often result in lower costs.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Non-running cars require special equipment, increasing the shipping cost.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your car shipment at least two weeks in advance. This increases the chances of carriers bundling your vehicle with others in The Woodlands, potentially lowering costs.
- Choose open transport: Open shipping offers the lowest rates and greatest flexibility for negotiating prices. It’s ideal for most vehicles, though enclosed carriers are necessary for some specialty cars.
- Optimize pickup/dropoff locations: Work with Sherpa advisers to find convenient locations near major interstates like I-45 or I-69. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items to reduce weight and avoid potential liability issues. Car shipping companies aren’t responsible for items left in the vehicle.
- Be flexible with dates: The more flexible you are with pickup and delivery dates, the more options you’ll have for finding cost-effective transport. This flexibility allows carriers to optimize their routes and loads more efficiently.
- Consider terminal-to-terminal alternatives: While Sherpa doesn’t offer terminal-to-terminal services, discuss with our advisors about nearby accessible locations that might serve as convenient pickup or dropoff points, potentially reducing your overall costs.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from The Woodlands?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.

Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I looked at and talked to many different companies, and I would get my vehicle faster using Sherpa. I didn`t do expedited, but it was kind of expedited. The other companies had a four to six-day window where they would pick it up and then it was a four to six-day window when they would drop it off. That Friday, Sherpa was telling me that they would either pick it up on Monday or Tuesday. I didn`t have to pay the deposit until they got a driver. It was Friday when they got the driver. At that point, the driver contacted me and informed me that he would be able to pick up on Monday or Tuesday. He picked it up on Tuesday and he said that he would be dropping it off on Friday, but he ended up dropping it off on Thursday night because that was when he came home. The car`s condition was great. They had a piece of paper on the floor so that no dirt got on the floors. Sherpa`s cost was a little bit more expensive than everybody else is, but it was well worth it. The driver was courteous. He kept me informed all along the way. He brought it a day early. I was very satisfied.”
“Sherpa had one of the easiest websites to navigate, and then they recognized right away that with my vehicle, they couldn`t give me a quote online. They told me to call. Other websites gave me a quote and then changed it later because they realized the dimensions are not quite the same. So, I appreciated the straightforwardness of Sherpa. It was super easy to schedule a pickup. My car got there in less time than I thought it would take, and then my parents on the other end said it was really easy to pick it up and it was painless. So, everything was pretty easy. Communication with the driver was not too much, thank goodness, because I wouldn`t have wanted too much either. He called me when he was about an hour away, and then he called me when he arrived. Then, on the other end, he called my parents when he was about an hour away. He got there the night before, so he called my mom the next morning and my mom was able to go and pick it up that morning at her convenience. Overall, Sherpa was easy to book and there weren`t any surprises. Everything was very clear and straightforward and I`d use Sherpa again.”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren`t the cheapest but they weren`t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm! The carrier was friendly and customer service was excellent! The street where he picked up the car was too narrow for his truck, so he parked the truck, walked to the pick up address, checked out the car, filled out the BOL and drive by daughter`s car to the truck and loaded it! Great work Horizon Carriers and superb vetting process on the part of Sherpa Auto Transport for choosing only the best of the best for their customers! This was our first time transporting a car so we were nervous, but Sherpa made it a truly stress-free experience!!! Thank you for caring about your customers and putting their needs first!”
“I unexpectedly purchased a Porsche Cayman in San Antonio, TX and needed to move it to Cleveland, Ohio. All within the time span of 5 days. I posted a car transport request on one of the popular sites and received multiple queries and quotes. The Sherpa quote stood our as being one of the lower priced quotes, which caught my interest. After speaking with the Sherpa agent, I was impressed with his depth of knowledge, and the support that was promised throughout the entire process. I opted to select Sherpa, simply based on the person that spoke with, and their many positive on-line reviews. I thought it was an excellent value. The transporter who accepted the job of moving my Porsche was Konstantin. I must say that he was among the most conscientious persons I have ever met. He thoroughly photographed all aspects of my care before loading it into his enclosed trailer. He secured the wheels and covered the car. Throughout the two-day trip he provided updates. He also answered my text messages when I sent queries. That fellow was so good that I’d hire him for my own business, if I could! Shipping a Porsche was a bit unsettling. However, the Sherpa team and Konstantin did everything they could to reduce my anxiety and delivered my car as promised. Thank you, Sherpa and Konstantin. I offer my highest recommendations. Dr. Decker”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in The Woodlands, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
