“Setting up the transport with Sherpa was easy. They charged us exactly what they said. The reps were knowledgeable and explained the process real well. The driver was excellent. He arrived and told us who he was. He looked at the vehicle and took pictures and video of it. He loaded it, strapped it down and took off. He got it safely to our house. He texted us about 30 minutes out from his arrival. He arrived and asked us where we wanted it. He got in the trailer, unstrapped the vehicle, backed it off and put it exactly where we told him.”

Sherpa came out as one of the providers that was able to work with our timeframe, offered a reasonable price, and has good reviews. Texas requires all vehicles to pass an annual safety inspection, so ensure your car is up-to-date before transport. While Tyler doesn’t have toll roads, nearby cities like Dallas do. If you’re moving to the Dallas area, consider getting a TollTag for convenience.
For vehicle registration in Texas, you’ll need to visit the Smith County Tax Office within 30 days of moving. Bring your out-of-state title, proof of insurance, and a completed application form. Tyler doesn’t require specific parking passes, but be aware of street parking regulations in residential areas.

Tyler, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Tyler?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Tyler. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Tyler?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Tyler?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Tyler?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Do I need to be present at both pickup and delivery?
Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Do you offer Door-To-Door Auto Transport Service?
Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. As long as it is possible, the assigned carrier will pick up and deliver your vehicle to the addresses you specify. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I would advise others to be cautious with Sherpa. There wasn’t any transparency in my experience although the agent was nice when she sent me my quote. I confirmed it a week or so later and I got one email two days after I placed the request. It said they were struggling to find me a driver and that was it. They told me they found a driver about two days after that. I just waited for someone to tell me they were on their way to pick up my truck. He had given me a time when he would be there but it seemed like he always had an excuse for not being there when he said he was gonna be. It was either he was not there yet, he got caught somewhere or he stopped to get something to eat. I paid extra for the vehicle to be expressed but I got it about four days later than I was expecting to get it. The guy delivering my truck was giving me the runaround to get my own truck. Then they just gave me the typical excuse, “The truck bogged down.” It was up to the point where I had to call him everyday just to make sure he was making progress on delivering my truck. By the time he showed up, I had talked to him on the phone probably eight times and he was ready to get it over with too. Nonetheless, I got my trailer and it still worked. It was not messed up. In fact, it was just how I left it when I left.”
“The only problem I had was with the driver from JPF Trucking. He didn`t go to the place that was indicated to meet me for the pickup. He came to the apartment even though I had told him I really couldn`t have a driver there. So he met me on the side of the highway, which was dangerous. But that wasn`t Sherpa`s fault. Then for the delivery, he also brought it to a different address. We were trying to meet him in the parking lot of a store so we wouldn`t have this big truck blocking this little tiny road in front of our house. I even called Sherpa and told them to make sure the guy would not come to the street. The spot was right around the corner. But he came here anyway. That aside, I had a good experience with Sherpa. The quote was also right on the money in the end.”
“We contacted a few companies and listened to their stories and what they would offer. Sherpa came out as one of the providers that was able to work with our timeframe, offered a reasonable price, and has good reviews. I had a friendly conversation with good information from Sherpa`s rep. The price was also exactly as agreed. The driver we had was an extremely nice gentleman. He picked up the car from our neighbor in Tyler, Texas, where we temporarily parked the car. He drove it all the way here. There were no damages of any kind. So, the car was in great condition. The gentleman was very friendly and contacted me about two hours before delivery. They had some trouble with finding the right road because it doesn’t show in their GPS services, but then he got very close. So, I walked up to him. He parked his trailer in a safe place where he gave me the car and I just needed to drive the car 30 seconds to the actual location.”
“Sherpa was great! We shipped our car from MD to CA with CA Auto Express Inc and couldn’t have been happier with the service. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. Everything left inside the car was safe and accounted for. The drivers were very friendly and communicative. We thought the price was a great deal for all that was included. Definitely recommend!”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm! The carrier was friendly and customer service was excellent! The street where he picked up the car was too narrow for his truck, so he parked the truck, walked to the pick up address, checked out the car, filled out the BOL and drive by daughter`s car to the truck and loaded it! Great work Horizon Carriers and superb vetting process on the part of Sherpa Auto Transport for choosing only the best of the best for their customers! This was our first time transporting a car so we were nervous, but Sherpa made it a truly stress-free experience!!! Thank you for caring about your customers and putting their needs first!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Tyler, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
