TESTIMONIALS

What Sherpa’s Customers are Saying

My daughter needed to bring her car to Florida for the Disney College Program. We were looking at Montway and I felt they were giving me the runaround. But Sherpa was number two on the list of the top five and I called them. The guy we dealt with was really good. His name was John from Christian Auto and he kept us in the loop the whole time. He called us the night before saying that the driver was gonna be picking it up around 7:30 and he was 15 minutes early the next day. My daughter and wife arrived on Saturday night and he was there at seven o’clock that Sunday morning. I was very impressed and happy with Sherpa.

The transport was from Seattle to Palm Bay, Florida. I was staying in a hotel by the time they came and picked up the car. My husband and I were a little nervous about how they were going to pick up the car. But they planned ahead and were totally prepared. They came in a vehicle that was small enough to go in downtown Bellevue so that was really nice. The car was in perfect condition and the driver was so accountable. They made everything easy. Things were perfect from start to finish. I would use Sherpa again.

I needed to have my car shipped from Seattle, Washington to Gainesville, Florida and the shipping company that they used, K and S Trucking, was amazing. The person that I worked with kept in touch with me throughout the entire process and the driver was very professional. I was so impressed with them and the quote was exactly what I was charged. It was spot-on. I wanted to get my car in one piece and have it well taken care of and I definitely feel like I did. If I ever have to ship another car, I’ll be calling them.

KEY FACTORS

Factors that Affect Washington to Florida Shipping Prices

Distance

Washington to Florida spans roughly 1,000 miles. The longer the haul, the higher the base cost. However, long routes often cost less per mile than shorter ones due to carrier efficiency.

Route

The Washington-to-Florida route primarily follows I-95, one of the busiest and most carrier-friendly highways in the country. This major corridor keeps costs competitive, as carriers frequently run this route.

Season

Winter is peak season for this route. Snowbirds flood Florida from November through March, driving up demand and prices. Shipping in spring or fall can save you money and reduce wait times significantly.

Vehicle Type

Shipping a standard sedan from Washington to Florida is the most affordable option. Larger trucks and SUVs take up more trailer space, weigh more, and burn more fuel — all of which increase your shipping cost.

Traffic Considerations

Avoid scheduling your shipment around major holidays. The week before Thanksgiving, for example, clogs I-95 with traffic. Heavy traffic slows carriers down, which can delay delivery and sometimes increase costs.

Carrier Availability

During peak winter months, carriers on the Washington-to-Florida route fill up fast. Book early to lock in your spot. In the off-season, carriers are easier to find and turnaround times are much quicker.

Open vs Enclosed

Most vehicles shipped from Washington to Florida travel on open trailers — the most affordable option. If you own a luxury, classic, or exotic car, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection at a higher price.

Population Density

Delivery in dense cities like Miami can cost more than delivery to a suburb. Narrow streets and traffic make navigation harder for large carriers. Consider meeting your driver at a nearby suburban location to save money.

TIPS & TRICKS

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping

Off Season Savings

Shipping during the off-season can lower your costs significantly. Even shifting your schedule by a few weeks outside peak snowbird season can make a noticeable difference in your final quote.

Flexible Pickup & Delivery

Choosing a five-day pickup and delivery window gives carriers more scheduling options. That added flexibility often translates to lower rates, since drivers can plan more efficient routes.

Hub City Advantages

Picking a location near major highways in Washington and Florida increases your carrier options. More competition means better rates. If shipping to a rural area, consider a nearby hub city to save money.

Open Trailers

Open trailers cost less than enclosed ones and work well for most standard vehicles. If you’re shipping a luxury or classic car, an enclosed trailer offers extra protection and may be worth the added cost.

HOW IT WORKS

How does Car Shipping from Washington to Florida Work?

Picturesque view of Florida

Washington to Florida car shipping is a popular interstate route covering an average distance of 3,083 miles. Whether you’re relocating, sending a vehicle to a snowbird destination, or delivering a purchased car, understanding how auto transport works makes the process smooth and stress-free. Sherpa Auto Transport handles every detail, connecting you with vetted carriers who specialize in long-distance routes like this one.

The process starts with a free quote. For this route, prices typically range from $1,300 to $1,750 depending on your vehicle type, chosen transport method (open or enclosed), and seasonal demand. Florida is one of the most trafficked auto transport corridors in the country, which means strong carrier availability — but also potential price fluctuations during peak snowbird season in the fall and winter months. Booking early is always recommended.

Once you book your Washington to Florida car shipping order, here’s what to expect: First, a licensed carrier is assigned and a pickup window is scheduled — typically within 1 to 5 business days. Next, your vehicle is inspected and loaded onto the transport truck. During transit, you can track your shipment and stay in contact with your carrier. Finally, your vehicle is delivered to your chosen destination in Florida, where a final inspection is completed before you sign off. The entire process, from pickup to delivery, generally takes between 4 and 10 days for this route.

One unique consideration for this route is weather. Washington state can experience rain and mountain conditions near the Cascades, while Florida’s humidity and summer storm season may affect scheduling. Sherpa’s Price Lock Promise also means the quote you receive is the price you pay — no surprise fees at delivery. With reliable carriers, transparent pricing, and dedicated customer support, Sherpa makes car shipping from Washington to Florida simple from start to finish.

INSIGHTS & REGULATIONS

Washington to Florida Car Transport: State Insights and Regulations

Auto transport truck carrying vehicles

Moving from Washington to Florida means more than just arranging car shipping — it also means understanding how vehicle rules change between the two states. Washington requires emissions testing in certain counties, while Florida has no statewide emissions testing program. Once your auto transport is complete and you arrive in Florida, you have 30 days to transfer your vehicle registration. Florida registration fees are based on vehicle weight, so costs may differ from what you paid in Washington.

Vehicle laws also vary in important ways. Washington allows window tint as dark as 24% on front side windows, but Florida permits only 28% or darker. If your windows are too dark, you may need to re-tint them after your Washington to Florida car shipping is done. Florida also enforces strict bumper height laws based on vehicle weight, so lifted trucks or SUVs may need adjustments to stay compliant. Washington has similar rules, but they differ in specific measurements, so it’s worth checking Florida’s exact standards before you arrive.

When it comes to preparing your car for Florida’s climate, think in reverse compared to Washington. You won’t need winter tires or all-weather floor mats for snow and ice. Instead, focus on heat protection. Check your coolant levels, inspect your air conditioning system, and consider UV-protective window film to reduce interior heat. Florida’s intense sun and humidity can also accelerate rust and paint fading, so a fresh wax coat before or after your auto transport is a smart move.

Insurance is another area to review carefully. Florida is a no-fault insurance state, meaning your own policy covers your injuries regardless of who caused the accident. Washington follows a traditional fault-based system. Florida also requires Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage, which Washington does not mandate. After completing your Washington to Florida car shipping, contact your insurance provider right away to update your policy and make sure you meet Florida’s minimum coverage requirements.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Washington to Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs

Preparing your car for shipping from Washington to Florida is simple. Follow these key steps to ensure a smooth transit:

  • Clean your vehicle: Wash the exterior so any pre-existing scratches, dents, or damage are easy to spot and document before pickup.
  • Document the condition: Take clear photos of all sides of your car. This protects you if any damage occurs during the long haul from Washington to Florida.
  • Remove personal items: Clear out all personal belongings. Auto transport carriers are not licensed to ship household goods, and items left inside are not covered by insurance.
  • Remove toll passes and parking tags: Devices like E-ZPass or SunPass can accidentally scan and charge you while the car is on the carrier.
  • Check your fluid levels and tire pressure: Make sure there are no active leaks. Your car needs to be in drivable condition for loading and unloading.
  • Keep the fuel tank low: Leave only about a quarter tank of gas. A full tank adds unnecessary weight to the carrier.
  • Disable alarms: An alarm that goes off during transit can be a major hassle for your driver. Disable it or provide clear instructions on how to turn it off.
  • Remove exterior accessories: Take off spoilers, bike racks, or any custom accessories that could be damaged or cause clearance issues on the carrier.
  • Have a key ready: Provide the carrier with at least one working key for loading and unloading.

Yes, your vehicle is insured when shipping from Washington to Florida with Sherpa Auto Transport. Every carrier in our network is required to carry a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance.

Before your car ever leaves Washington, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is active and in good standing. We don’t just take their word for it — all contracted carriers are required to add Sherpa Auto Transport as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

This means you have an added layer of protection for the entire duration of your shipment, from pickup in Washington all the way to delivery in Florida.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Our quotes are all-inclusive — there are no hidden fees or surprise charges.
  • A thorough inspection report is completed at both pickup and delivery, so any damage is clearly documented.
  • If you have concerns about additional coverage, check with your personal auto insurance provider, as many policies extend coverage during transport.

Have more questions? Contact our team — we’re happy to walk you through the process before you book your shipment.

The sooner you schedule, the better. We recommend booking your Washington to Florida car shipment at least 2 weeks in advance. Here’s why timing matters:

  • Peak seasons are busy. Summer months and holidays see high demand for auto transport on this route. Booking early helps you lock in better rates and availability.
  • Carriers bundle shipments. The earlier you post your order, the more likely a carrier can group your vehicle with others heading from Washington to Florida — keeping costs down for everyone.
  • Flexibility saves money. If your schedule allows a pickup window of 3–5 days rather than a single date, carriers can plan more efficiently, which may lower your rate.

That said, last-minute shipments are sometimes possible. If you’re in a time crunch, contact Sherpa Auto Transport right away and we’ll do our best to find a carrier quickly. Just keep in mind that expedited shipping may come at a higher cost.

Bottom line: Book as early as you can — ideally 2 to 4 weeks out — for the smoothest, most affordable experience.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.

We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.

Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. If you are shipping to or from a port or your shipment includes ocean transit, your vehicle must be emptied of all items. Sherpa and your assigned carrier cannot be responsible for personal items left inside the vehicle. See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for more details.

Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.

When shipping your car from Washington to Florida, you have two options: open transport and enclosed transport.

Open transport is the most popular and affordable choice. Your vehicle rides on an open-air trailer alongside other cars — the same way most new cars are delivered to dealerships. It’s safe, reliable, and the right choice for most everyday vehicles.

Enclosed transport costs roughly 50% more, but offers extra protection inside a fully covered trailer. It’s the best choice if you’re shipping a:

  • Classic or antique car
  • Luxury or exotic vehicle
  • Car with a custom paint job or low ground clearance

On a long haul like Washington to Florida, open transport is the go-to for most customers. But if your vehicle has high value or sentimental worth, the added peace of mind from enclosed shipping is well worth the cost.

Not sure which is right for you? Check out our open vs. enclosed auto transport guide for a full breakdown.

Yes! Sherpa Auto Transport offers door-to-door auto transport service for all shipments, including routes from Washington to Florida. This is the most convenient way to ship your vehicle — no need to drop it off at a terminal or travel out of your way.

  • Your assigned carrier will come directly to your specified locations to pick up and drop off your vehicle.
  • If needed, the carrier will work with you to find a nearby alternative — such as a parking lot or gas station — if your street has low-clearance obstacles, narrow roads, or other access challenges for large transport trucks.
