When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Coral Gables Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey from or to Coral Gables, FL significantly impacts car shipping costs. Longer distances typically mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping rates. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to or from Coral Gables. Enclosed transport, while pricier, offers extra protection from Florida’s occasional harsh weather and is ideal for luxury or classic cars.
- Season: Auto transport rates in Coral Gables can fluctuate with the seasons. Winter months often see increased demand due to snowbirds heading south, potentially raising prices.
- Route Popularity: Coral Gables’ proximity to Miami and major highways like I-95 can affect pricing. Popular routes often have more competitive rates due to higher carrier availability.
- Timeframe: Flexible pickup and delivery dates can lead to more economical shipping options. Rush or guaranteed delivery services typically come at a premium.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Inoperable cars require special equipment for loading, increasing the cost of transport.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Coral Gables, FL. Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Coral Gables car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost-saving opportunities.
- Strategic pickup/dropoff: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find locations near major interstates like I-95 or Florida’s Turnpike. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of pickup and delivery dates. Greater flexibility can lead to better options and potential savings on your Coral Gables auto transport.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak shipping seasons in Coral Gables, such as winter months when snowbirds flock to Florida. Off-peak times may offer more competitive rates.
- Explore multi-car discounts: If you’re shipping multiple vehicles, inquire about potential discounts. Sherpa Auto Transport may offer reduced rates for shipping more than one car.

Coral Gables, Florida Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Coral Gables?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Coral Gables. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Coral Gables?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Coral Gables?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Coral Gables?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. What types of vehicles can you transport?

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Coral Gables
When planning car shipping to or from Coral Gables, FL, it’s crucial to consider the unique climate and seasonal factors that can impact your auto transport experience. Coral Gables enjoys a tropical monsoon climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and short, warm winters. This weather pattern influences both the car shipping process and the precautions you should take.
During the summer months (May to October), temperatures can soar, and humidity levels are high. If you’re shipping a car during this period:
- Consider placing a sunshade under your windshield to protect the interior from intense heat.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from your vehicle to prevent melting or damage.
- Ensure your car’s cooling system is in good condition to prevent overheating during transport.
The winter months (November to April) in Coral Gables are mild, but it’s still important to prepare your vehicle:
- Check your car’s antifreeze levels, even though freezing temperatures are rare.
- Remove any items that could be affected by temperature changes during transport.
Coral Gables experiences a rainy season from June to October, coinciding with the Atlantic hurricane season. When scheduling car transport during these months:
- Be prepared for potential delays due to severe weather conditions.
- Consider shipping your car before or after the peak hurricane season for more reliable schedules.
- Ensure your vehicle is properly sealed to prevent water damage during transport.
Additionally, Coral Gables sees an influx of seasonal residents and tourists during the winter months. This can lead to increased demand for car shipping services. To avoid peak rates and ensure timely transport:
- Book your auto transport well in advance if shipping during the winter season.
- Consider scheduling your car transport during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) for potentially lower rates and more flexible options.
By keeping these seasonal factors in mind, you can ensure a smooth and efficient car shipping experience to or from Coral Gables, FL.
Car Shipping for College Students in Coral Gables, Florida

Weather isn’t a major concern for car maintenance in Coral Gables, so snow tires aren’t necessary. However, students should ensure their auto transport insurance and roadside assistance coverage are valid in Florida. If you’re using car shipping services to bring your vehicle to Coral Gables, coordinate with your car shipping company to arrange delivery close to your residence or campus for convenience.
Reviews from our Florida Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Florida customers:
“Our daughter was moving from Florida to California for a transfer with her job and she needed to ship a 2010 Toyota RAV4. She looked at a few transport companies online and contacted one company. They took a deposit and sent the contract. But we didn’t like the terms of their contract at all and they didn’t have a very good rating on the Better Business Bureau. Then, we found Sherpa and we went with them. We’re very happy with our experience from start to finish. Their name is very cool and certainly good marketing on their part because it’s easy to remember. The customer service rep we had answered very quickly and explained the whole process. He told us a little bit about how the industry works and a little bit about how we don’t pay a deposit until we see the contract. The contract was just attached to the quote so we could take a look at the whole thing and see what we were getting into. Then we called back and told them to go ahead and look for a driver for us. It was a very easy transaction and their people were very good to talk to. They didn’t pester us, they told us what we needed to know, and were very professional.”
“First time to ship an automobile in my life. Looking for excellent rating from BBB. Took a while to research because I want a reliable, honest company. Found Sherpa with A+ rating. Talked to a guy name Shane. Made me feel very relax because He is too friendly, courteous, well experience and very confident which made me feel comfortable during transaction. It didn’t take me too long to get my date I wanted to sent my car from Crestview, Florida to Denver Colorado. I gave Shane the date May 23rd I asked for and the driver arrived on that day I asked for. The dispatcher from the company assigned for me were incredible, the lady dispatcher were on top of informing me on date when the driver will come to pick my car. Also I’ve been receiving email from Sherpa information about facts what to expect during the time I will get the car till it arrived to my son`s place. The drivers they hired were so experienced and courteous as well as the dispatcher. I asked the driver if I can put a little gift to my daughter in the trunk and it arrived safely. It took only 2 days to reach the destination as stated by Shane and the sweet drivers.”
“We purchased a vehicle in Florida and needed it transferred to California. I called a couple of companies and Sherpa had the better price. They had some good reviews too. I spoke with their guy to set up the transport. I had to change dates because the paperwork didn’t go through and they changed it for me. It was an easy setup. From the day the vehicle was picked it up to drop-off, that was seven days. The driver was a really good guy. I had his number and the truck had LoJack on it so I could keep track of the vehicle. It was fun. The app would tell you if your car exceeds the maximum limit and I kept getting these notifications. You could see he was on the interstate highway and cruising along. He never exceeded the limit by that much. The driver picked up three cars in Florida and they all got dropped off in California. We were the first drop-off.”
“I asked Sherpa for an enclosed container to transport a car versus the open carrier. The first one they got fell through but within two hours, they found another. They picked the car up on Saturday morning and I got it Monday morning. So, I was pleased with that. But what I was more pleased with was them being honest with me. They had good reviews, too and this contract carrier they used did a nice job. My vehicle was transported from Florida to Virginia and I was told when they were going to pick it up. After they picked it up, I heard from the driver in the afternoon on Sunday. I was told that they could be here the next morning and said they`d be here at 8:00 a.m, and they were actually here about 7:50, which was even better. So, they came when they said they were going to come. They also said they`d call at least 12 hours before delivery but they called a little longer than that period, which was even better to get a little more time. All in all, everybody did what they said they were going to do and I was pleased.”
“Sherpa was very responsive. I was on a timeline and needed a company that was going to be professional and timely. I could tell Sherpa was very organized and did a lot of auto transport. They gave a quote in a timely manner via email and were very clear on the next steps. They were top-notch. The vehicles were picked up on time as arranged and the drivers were professional. First, we started with one vehicle then we added a second one. Where I lived in Florida, they didn`t allow trucks that size so I met one of the drivers at a parking lot nearby. I met the other driver on a residential street nearby that allowed larger trucks. But they were both very convenient, less than a mile from my home in Florida. Both drivers were communicative throughout and I`m very pleased with how my two vehicles were transported from one coast to the other. They were dirty but the nice thing about Sherpa is you could go get a car wash on them and I took advantage of that. I got both cars washed and sent them the receipt. They credited my credit card $20 for each vehicle.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Coral Gables, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Florida. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
