“We met John (Jonathan) who was our driver, he was very cool and jovial. We didn’t get our BOL on time but he kept asking us, he was really patient. He kept asking us if we received it. Then we told him that we received it, he said “nice doing business with you”. He picked up our cars on Tuesday morning, our cars arrived at the destination on Thursday. Wow! That was just 2 days delivery. The cars arrived safe and sound with no damages to Lubbock.”
“I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable. I also must say the driver was friendly and helped out with the inspection, he also kept in touch and delivered right on time as he promised. Felt confidant that my vehicles would arrive safe and they did.”

Factors that affect Lubbock Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Lubbock, TX. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to Lubbock. Enclosed trailers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship to Lubbock than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Lubbock’s Location: Lubbock’s position along major routes like I-27 and US-84 can affect pricing. Urban areas with good highway access often have lower shipping costs than rural locations.
- Seasonal Factors: Lubbock’s climate, with hot summers and mild winters, can influence car shipping prices. Summer months often see higher demand and prices for auto transport services.
- Timing Flexibility: Opting for a wider pickup window can lead to more competitive rates when shipping a car to or from Lubbock. Rush or guaranteed delivery dates typically cost more.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles that can be driven onto the carrier are less expensive to ship to Lubbock than inoperable ones requiring special equipment.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Lubbock car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open car shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Select strategic locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup and dropoff points near major highways like I-27 or US-82. This can significantly reduce fuel costs for carriers, potentially lowering your overall price.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and eliminates concerns about item safety during transport.
- Be flexible: Offer a range of dates for pickup and delivery. The more flexible you are, the more likely you’ll find cost-effective options for your Lubbock auto transport needs.
- Consider seasonal timing: If possible, avoid peak moving seasons in Lubbock, such as the start and end of Texas Tech University semesters. Shipping during off-peak times may result in better rates.

Lubbock, Texas Vehicle Transport FAQs
How do I prepare my vehicle for transit to or from Lubbock?
See our Vehicle Shipping Tips for details about how to prepare your vehicle to / from Lubbock. In short, you’ll want to remove any toll pass or fragile items, make sure you have a key available to provide the carrier, and remove any interior and exterior accessories that could be damaged in transit.
Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Lubbock?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Lubbock?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.
How do I pay for my auto transport to Lubbock?
No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. The most convenient option is to pay for your shipment in full by credit card at the time a carrier is secured.
We also allow you to pay for your Initial Payment via credit or debit card and then pay the outstanding balance on delivery day via cash or a certified check made out to the carrier.
Can I pack personal items inside my vehicle?
Your Sherpa shipment includes up to 100 lbs of personal items or household goods stored in the trunk area or secured below the window line. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. This designated person plays an important role in the shipping process including documenting the state of the vehicle and signing the Bill of Lading, which acts as a receipt of the vehicle’s condition.
What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.
How are you different from other Car Shipping Companies?
Many Auto Transport companies try to tease customers with lower rates, only to surprise you with “hidden costs” later. At Sherpa Auto Transport, we do things differently. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. We can ship both operable and inoperable vehicles so long as the vehicle can roll, brake, and steer, and that you can provide the carrier with a key to the vehicle. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“This was the first time I used car shipping service. After some research I decided to get quote from two auto transport companies. The other company was much larger than Sherpa. I ended up choosing Sherpa because they guaranteed that my car could be picked up by the deadline I had and I was impressed by their service attitude. Dillano, the sales representative, was very helpful. I booked the service at around the close of the business day, and to my surprise, they notified me at around 10 am the next morning that a driver had been secured to pick up the car later that day or the following day. When my nephew had a little trouble getting in touch with the driver to arrange the pick-up, I emailed Sherpa. Within a few minutes, the driver contacted us. Sherpa called me soon after to make sure that the driver did contact us after they reached out to him. After that everything went very smoothly. I got several emails from Sherpa during the process reminding me to examine the car carefully during pickup and drop off. The car was delivered to me without any problem. I was extremely happy with the service and would highly recommend Sherpa.”
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines. I called several other companies only to hear the same thing, that they could not guarantee shipping times. I decided to contact Sherpa as I had received a quote from them when I began to shop for auto transporters, but now I was desperate. The agent I dealt with from Sherpa was Kate and she had solutions not excuses. Yes, I did pay for expedited service, but she got a carrier assigned the same day and saved the day! The car was picked up on January 4th in Texas and it arrived ahead of schedule in San Diego on January 7th. I also want to leave positive comments on the carrier, New Day Inc. If you are fortunate enough to get Next Day, Inc. and Sergei as the driver, you will be in good hands. He arrived on time, sent me a detailed, inspection report and emailed an electronic Bill of Lading before driving away. When the car was delivered, I received the final electronic Bill of Lading before he pulled away in San Diego. Even the personal belongings that were packed in the trunk arrived safely. The service from Sherpa, Kate and Next Day, Inc was flawless. Thank you! Karen E”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren`t the cheapest but they weren`t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”
“I was very nervous and worried about shipping my son`s brand new $70,000 truck from San Antonio, Tx to Moody AFB, Ga. My son is in the military and has just been transferred to Moody from being overseas for the past seven years. After going through the top 10 transfer companies and reading the customer comments I picked the Sherpa auto transfer company. When they didn`t find the transfer driver until the day of the transfer, I was very upset until the driver showed up at my house. The driver`s name is Denard and he was very cheerful and friendly. According to my son, his truck was in perfect condition when he received it and Denard was very nice and understanding. He thanked my son for serving the country and the sacrifice he`s making. My son offered him a gratuity because he was so happy with the service Denard rendered but he wouldn`t take the extra money he tried to give to him. I was so shocked when my son told me that! In my entire life I have never met anyone who would not take a gratuity from me! Thank you Sherpa transport for finding such a wonderful driver! Thank you so much Denard for being such a compassionate person and being so caring! I`ll never forget you…I recommend Sherpa auto-transfer 1000%.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Lubbock, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
