What our Edinburg customers say about Sherpa:
“Sherpa was very easy to deal with. I had two numbers that were considerably lower than the first time I went back. About three weeks later, when we were ready to pull the trigger on it, the other two went up by ridiculous amounts. I went with Sherpa and their price didn’t change. They were $100 higher than the other two but I went with them because I didn’t like the way the other two companies did business. The pickup and delivery went very well. The driver was a great guy and kept us informed. They notified me the day before, gave me a window of time and then, the driver contacted them in Texas the night before and on the way in.”
“I used Sherpa transport to help me out of a bad spot. I picked up a car at a dealership in Dallas Texas and started my 22 hr trip back home. I got as far a Little Rock Arkansas and at 11:30 hit one of Interstate 40’s famous Arkansas pot holes it must have been about 2 feet in diameter and at least 6″ deep. It ruined my tire and broke my 22″ rim. I tried the next day to find someone to fix my car, but nobody had a wheel and tire for my exotic (no spare in car)”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm!”

Factors that affect Edinburg Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Edinburg, TX. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel consumption and driver time increase.
- Vehicle Type: The size and weight of your car affect shipping rates. Larger vehicles like SUVs or trucks cost more to transport than compact cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Transport Method: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for car shipping to Edinburg. Enclosed transport, while pricier, offers extra protection from weather and road debris, which can be beneficial during Texas’s hot summers or occasional storms.
- Season: Auto transport prices fluctuate seasonally. Summer months and January typically see higher rates due to increased demand. Edinburg’s mild winters might make off-season shipping more appealing and cost-effective.
- Route Popularity: Edinburg’s proximity to major highways like US-281 and I-69C can affect pricing. More frequent routes often have competitive rates due to higher carrier availability.
- Delivery Timeframe: Expedited shipping to or from Edinburg will cost more than standard delivery options. Flexible pickup and delivery dates can help reduce costs.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to ship. Non-running cars require special equipment for loading, increasing the overall cost of transport to or from Edinburg.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping a car to or from Edinburg, TX. How does Edinburg Car Shipping Work?
Navigating the car shipping process in Edinburg, TX doesn’t have to be complicated. Follow these steps to ensure a smooth auto transport experience:
1. Get an instant quote: Start by getting an online quote from a trusted car shipping company. You’ll need to provide details like your vehicle’s make and model, pickup and delivery locations, and preferred shipping method.
2. Book your shipment: Once you’re satisfied with the quote, lock in your auto transport. Choose pickup and delivery windows that work for you. Many companies, like Sherpa, don’t require upfront payment to book.
3. Prepare your vehicle: Before the carrier arrives, prepare your car for shipping. Wash and inspect it, document any existing damage, remove personal items, and ensure it’s in good working order. For Edinburg’s hot climate, check your car’s cooling system and tire pressure.
4. Meet the carrier: On pickup day, you’ll meet the driver to hand over the keys and do an inspection. In Edinburg, consider early morning pickups to avoid the intense afternoon heat.
5. Track your shipment: While your car is in transit, stay informed about its progress. Most car shipping services provide regular updates.
6. Receive your vehicle: Upon delivery, inspect your car again and pay any remaining balance. Be aware that Edinburg’s location near the Mexican border may affect delivery times due to potential border-related traffic.
When shipping a car to or from Edinburg, TX, keep in mind the city’s unique characteristics. Its location along US-281 and proximity to McAllen International Airport make it accessible for auto transport. However, the hot, semi-arid climate can impact shipping. During summer months, enclosed transport might be preferable to protect your vehicle from intense sun and potential dust storms. Also, be aware that the nearby Rio Grande Valley’s agricultural industry can lead to increased truck traffic during harvest seasons, potentially affecting pickup and delivery times.
By following these steps and considering Edinburg’s specific factors, you can ensure a successful car shipping experience to or from this vibrant Texas city.
Edinburg Car Transport: Local Insights and Regulations
When planning to ship a car to or from Edinburg, TX, it’s crucial to be aware of local regulations and practical considerations. Edinburg, located in the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, has unique aspects that can affect your auto transport experience.
First, let’s address vehicle-specific requirements. Texas doesn’t have a state vehicle inspection program, but Hidalgo County (where Edinburg is located) participates in the AirCheckTexas program. This means your vehicle may need to pass an emissions test. For car shipping services to Edinburg, ensure your vehicle is compliant to avoid future hassles.
When it comes to tolls, Edinburg itself doesn’t have toll roads. However, if you’re shipping a car to other parts of Texas, consider removing your TxTag or EZ TAG to prevent unexpected charges. For vehicle registration, you’ll need to visit the Hidalgo County Tax Office within 30 days of moving to Texas.
Now, let’s dive into some moving tips specific to Edinburg:
- Utilities: Set up electricity with AEP Texas and water with the City of Edinburg.
- Internet: Major providers include AT&T, Spectrum, and Viasat.
- Voting: Register at the Hidalgo County Elections Department.
- Schools: Enroll children in the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District.
- Library: Get a card at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library.
If you’re moving away from Edinburg, remember to cancel local memberships and forward your mail through USPS.
When choosing a car transport company, consider Edinburg’s climate. The city experiences hot summers and mild winters, so enclosed auto transport might be preferable to protect your vehicle from extreme heat and potential dust storms. Edinburg’s proximity to major highways like US-281 and I-69C makes it easily accessible for car shipping services.
By keeping these factors in mind, your move to or from Edinburg will be smoother, whether you’re shipping a car or relocating your entire household.

Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Edinburg?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Yes. It is important that you, or another adult that you trust, is there for pickup and delivery of your vehicle. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?

Door-to-door auto transport service is the epitome of convenience in vehicle shipping. At the time of booking your shipment, we will ask for your preferred pickup and delivery address. Of course, if there are transportation restrictions or safety challenges the carrier will work with you to arrange an alternative location, such as a nearby gas station or parking lot.

We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. As a premium service, we ensure an stress-free experience from start to finish.
What types of vehicles can you transport?
We transport sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, vans and motorcycles across the nation, including service to Alaska and Hawaii. At this time, we do not service boats, golf carts, ATVs, or RVs. Car Shipping for College Students in Edinburg, Texas
When considering car shipping to Edinburg, Texas for college, it’s crucial to understand the parking situation at local universities. Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines. I called several other companies only to hear the same thing, that they could not guarantee shipping times. I decided to contact Sherpa as I had received a quote from them when I began to shop for auto transporters, but now I was desperate. The agent I dealt with from Sherpa was Kate and she had solutions not excuses. Yes, I did pay for expedited service, but she got a carrier assigned the same day and saved the day! The car was picked up on January 4th in Texas and it arrived ahead of schedule in San Diego on January 7th. I also want to leave positive comments on the carrier, New Day Inc. If you are fortunate enough to get Next Day, Inc. and Sergei as the driver, you will be in good hands. He arrived on time, sent me a detailed, inspection report and emailed an electronic Bill of Lading before driving away. When the car was delivered, I received the final electronic Bill of Lading before he pulled away in San Diego. Even the personal belongings that were packed in the trunk arrived safely. The service from Sherpa, Kate and Next Day, Inc was flawless. Thank you! Karen E”
“I was very nervous and worried about shipping my son`s brand new $70,000 truck from San Antonio, Tx to Moody AFB, Ga. My son is in the military and has just been transferred to Moody from being overseas for the past seven years. After going through the top 10 transfer companies and reading the customer comments I picked the Sherpa auto transfer company. When they didn`t find the transfer driver until the day of the transfer, I was very upset until the driver showed up at my house. The driver`s name is Denard and he was very cheerful and friendly. According to my son, his truck was in perfect condition when he received it and Denard was very nice and understanding. He thanked my son for serving the country and the sacrifice he`s making. My son offered him a gratuity because he was so happy with the service Denard rendered but he wouldn`t take the extra money he tried to give to him. I was so shocked when my son told me that! In my entire life I have never met anyone who would not take a gratuity from me! Thank you Sherpa transport for finding such a wonderful driver! Thank you so much Denard for being such a compassionate person and being so caring! I`ll never forget you…I recommend Sherpa auto-transfer 1000%.”
“I used Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a Jeep from Charlotte, NC to Austin, TX two weeks ago and was very pleased with their service. They were very easy to work with, kept in contact with me, followed up on any questions, picked up and delivered as scheduled, and were fairly priced. When the carrier Sherpa hired to transport my vehicle had not contact me as planned, I called Sherpa who immediately contacted the carrier, then followed up to see that the carrier had called me. At each stage of the process, Sherpa kept me up to date with emails as to the status of the transport. The driver for the carrier communicated with me on the days of pickup and delivery as to the specific time (within an hour) and location for pick-up and drop-off, as the truck was too large for some neighborhood streets. The driver also took good care loading, securing, and unloading my vehicle. I worked primarily with one contact at Sherpa for the entire process but when she wasn’t available her colleague addressed and followed up on my question quickly. I highly recommend that Sherpa Auto Transport be considered for any of your vehicle transport needs.”
“From the moment I contacted Sherpa Auto Transport, everything was smooth and efficient. I placed a call on Friday, had a call back by Saturday morning and transport arranged by Monday. They picked the car up in FL on Wednesday morning and we had it in San Antonio, TX on Thursday night. The driver was very responsive and courteous and his truck was immaculate. I was also extremely impressed with his driving ability. We have a sloped driveway and he maneuvered the trailer deftly right up to the garage door with literally a half inch of clearance to spare. The car arrived in the exact condition it was when it left. I have never transported a car before and to say it was a little bit daunting is an understatement. After getting the run around from another carrier, Sherpa really stepped in and made things easy. They were patient, explained the process thoroughly and answered all my questions without making me feel stupid for asking. I transported a car that was my father’s (a 1964 Porsche 356) that is very special to our family and I would trust Sherpa with it again.”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren`t the cheapest but they weren`t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Edinburg, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
