What our Pharr customers say about Sherpa:
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car. The car left TX on a Monday at about 9:45 pm and arrived in N. Idaho on Wednesday at about 3:45 pm!”
“I was very nervous and worried about shipping my son’s brand new $70,000 truck from San Antonio, Tx to Moody AFB, Ga. My son is in the military and has just been transferred to Moody from being overseas for the past seven years. After going through the top 10 transfer companies and reading the customer comments I picked the Sherpa auto transfer company.”
“I am truly grateful I found Sherpa Auto Transport. This was my first time arranging transportation and needless to say it was really overwhelming. I went online and found so many companies, but just had no idea how the process even worked. I contacted some and got quotes from a lot of them, but it was just frustrating because I wasn’t convinced by any. I needed to transport two vehicles from Texas to Florida in a very short period of time and not only were they able to find a driver, the price was reasonable.”

Factors that affect Pharr Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Pharr, TX. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel consumption and driver time increase.
- Transport Type: Open trailers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport in Pharr. Enclosed carriers offer extra protection but come at a premium, costing about 50% more and potentially extending delivery times.
- Location Accessibility: Pharr’s proximity to major highways like US-281 and I-2 can help reduce costs. However, if you’re shipping to or from more remote areas away from these routes, prices may increase.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, such as SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Seasonal Factors: Pharr’s hot summers can affect car shipping prices. The peak season for auto transport often aligns with the warmest months, potentially leading to higher rates.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are easier and cheaper to transport. Inoperable cars require special equipment for loading, increasing the overall cost.
- Timing Flexibility: If you can be flexible with your pickup and delivery dates, you may find more competitive rates for car shipping to or from Pharr, TX.
Understanding these factors can help you make informed decisions when shipping your car to or from Pharr, TX. Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Pharr?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.
How far out should I schedule my pickup service from Pharr?
The sooner, the better. We recommend at least two weeks, but it’s ideal to post your shipment as soon as possible so that carriers can bundle your shipment with others in the same location.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. What’s the difference between Open vs Enclosed Auto Transport?
Enclosed transport is at least 50% higher than open trailers. We provide one locked-in price upfront and stick to it. If unexpected costs arise, we pay them out of our own pocket. While we may not always be the cheapest option at first glance, our commitment to transparency and reliability offers exceptional value. What types of vehicles can you transport?

Seasonal Guide to Ship a Car in Pharr
When planning car shipping to or from Pharr, TX, it’s crucial to consider the city’s unique climate and seasonal factors. Pharr experiences hot summers and mild winters, which can significantly impact your auto transport experience.
During the summer months (June to September), temperatures in Pharr can soar above 95°F (35°C). If you’re shipping a car during this time:
- Place a sunshade under the windshield to protect the interior from intense heat.
- Remove any heat-sensitive items from the vehicle to prevent melting or damage.

While winters are generally mild, occasional cold fronts can bring temperatures close to freezing. For winter car shipping in Pharr:
- Ensure your vehicle’s antifreeze levels are adequate.
- Remove any liquids that might freeze and potentially damage containers.
- Check that pickup and drop-off locations are on level ground, as icy conditions can be hazardous for transport trucks.
Pharr’s proximity to the US-Mexico border makes it a busy hub for international trade. This can affect auto transport services, especially during peak shipping seasons:
- Spring Break (March): Increased traffic due to tourists heading to South Padre Island.
- Summer (June-August): Higher demand for car shipping services as families relocate during school vacations.
- Winter (December-February): ‘Snowbirds’ from northern states arriving, increasing demand for vehicle transport.
To ensure a smooth car shipping experience in Pharr, TX, consider booking your auto transport a few weeks before or after these peak periods. This can help you secure better rates and more flexible scheduling options with your chosen car shipping company.
Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“My daughters go to school out of state and they need their cars at school. I’ve been transporting the cars back and forth for a couple of years and the first company I used did a great job. But they changed owners when I called them. Then I booked with another place but they called me two days before the pick-up date and said that they couldn’t pick the cars up for another week. So, that was a nightmare. And then I went with another transport and they fell through. So I went online and started looking at different transport companies and then got to Sherpa. And we had them ship a Volkswagen Beetle and a Mazda 3 from New Jersey to Texas. The Sherpa representative was great. When she said she was gonna call me, she called me. And when she said she was gonna email me information, she did. Compared to the last three experiences I had, it was the best. I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, thinking this could be a big pain in the neck, but it didn’t and they were really good.”
“I’m in the military and I got stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. But I had a family in North Carolina and I was shipping my 2006 Chevy Colorado from Texas to North Carolina. I looked at three companies and when Sherpa started out, it was the cheapest. But the price went up to about $158 more than I was quoted. They didn’t tell me that the price could fluctuate and if you base the quality of the service on what I paid off, I paid too much. I had called Sherpa and I sat on hold for a little bit but with work, I didn’t really get to talk to anybody. $158 was a lot but it was not worth stressing over.”
“We’re from Arlington, Texas and our son is in the Coast Guard. We had to ship a Honda CR-V to him in Oregon. It was a personal vehicle. We looked at three transport companies and ended up with Sherpa. I was able to check out their office in Tennessee. There was actually a physical location. The company also had good recommendations and things with the Better Business Bureau. I mostly communicated with them by email and I had one phone call. Customer service handled everything great and I was very pleased. They gave me a good quote and I felt pretty confident with them.”
“The gentleman from Sherpa who assisted me was very informative, explaining the whole process. He told me what to be aware of and of how other companies can take advantage if you don’t know what you’re looking for. He didn’t say that he was the right choice. He said it was my choice to select the company I wanted to use for my auto transport. So, I felt confident that he provided me with the right information. I spoke to others as well and they were much higher. So, I went with the one that was best for my budget. Sherpa was very straightforward and even gave me the opportunity to select who I wanted to choose. They weren’t going to be the best choice but I went with them because they were truthful and honest about the process. Shawn, the driver, was wonderful. His partner reached out to me and informed me that they would be able to pick up my car. She told me what day they would be picking it up and what day to expect it here in my area for delivery. So, she kept me engaged as far as giving me a status. When they knew they weren’t gonna be able to make it a day earlier, they were very upfront, giving me a call to tell me that the driver had a delay, there was no additional fees for that delay, and was still able to get it to me on the day that they originally stated it would. So, it was very good communication. Then, when the vehicle got here, it was very easy to find the gentleman. We met in a public location, in a Walmart parking lot, for the driver’s safety because of how big of a rig he was driving, and for my safety, too, not knowing whom I was going to be meeting with. I had a nice conversation with the gentleman. My husband and I both felt like he was a straightforward, very good guy. And it was simple and very easy. I was quoted 725. I paid 250 for the deposit and my card did not get charged any more than the 250. I had to provide 475 cash at the time of delivery, which I was able to do. And everything was fine. There was no fluctuation in the cost.”
“My youngest was in college in Michigan and a family that had befriended him had fallen on hard times. Their daughter was his roommate and she needed a car for her summer work program because she had to drive to get this internship. I just bought a new car and I had my old one that was still in very good shape. I didn’t need it and I don’t really need the money for it. I said that I’d give it to her but I couldn’t drive it up there. I was already going to fly it there to help him move. I found Sherpa and they had a really nice arrangement where we paid an upfront cost for them to find a driver and she just had to pay the driver. It was a really good thing for me because I wanted her commitment to pay something for the vehicle. It was a reasonable amount. That worked out really well for me. Sherpa was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The driver was very polite, courteous, and prompt. He got here on time and called me. He dropped off the vehicle and it was fine. I was very happy with the service. It was my first-time experience transporting a vehicle. I did it online and Sherpa came back promptly with a good price. I had contacted four other companies and some of them didn’t even respond. The ones that did were very, “Well, we’ll let you know,” that kind of thing. Sherpa was very good at getting me a price, “This is what it’s gonna cost.” It was getting closer to the deadline and they’d given me a window and they were still within the window. It was just so much was going on so I was a little nervous. I called Sherpa and at the time, you get an answering service thing because they get a lot of calls. I didn’t have time to wait. They called me right back and said, “We still haven’t found a driver for you, but we’ll get you something right now.” They didn’t realize I was anxious. They had a lot of information on their website. They were very prompt and they allayed my fears and said, “We haven’t found anyone yet, but if you need a name right now, we’ll get you one.” It worked out really well. In the payment way, the driver that they got wanted a little more cash so they reduced their fee that they would take from my card. But the problem was the young lady that was receiving the car only had so much cash and she’s a student. I said, “Well, look, can I just pay that difference to the driver upfront?” They said that was fine. When the driver came, I said, “I’ll give you the cash and then you can just email that you got the money.” He sent me a text that this was received so I had a record. That made me feel comfortable that he received that cash. When he arrived, he just took the additional cash from the young lady I was sending the car to. They were flexible and honest about the transaction. I would encourage people to use Sherpa. To drive the car would have cost me just as much money with hotel stays and gas. The stress would have been so much more too. You have to drive it 1,800 miles for three days and it would have been terrible. Sherpa delivered the car right when they said they were going to deliver it.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Pharr, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.

A reputable auto transport provider should offer clear communication throughout the process, from pickup in the Rio Grande Valley to delivery at your destination. By carefully evaluating these aspects, you can select a reliable partner for your Pharr car shipping needs.
