What our Kinston customers say about Sherpa:
“The experience with Sherpa Auto Transport was seamless and the price was fair. I picked the transport company based on their D&B. It was a local transport firm in Charlotte. We live on close to a waterway, south of the Cape Fear River, which is Wilmington, North Carolina and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.”
“Sherpa Auto Transport offered a good rate, which is why I went with them. They are one of the top-rated services and that was important to me because I have dealt with some sketchy moving companies in the past. I had a fantastic experience with the transport. I found it to be simple. Driver communication was fantastic.”
“You can’t go wrong with Sherpa! I admit that I initially placed an order with a different company — two companies actually. Neither could find a driver to transport my brand new Genesis GV70 from NC to NV in an enclosed trailer. I even paid the first company in full, and six days later they hadn’t even tried to find a driver.”

When choosing an auto transport company, it is crucial to select the best car shipping company by considering factors such as reliability, customer satisfaction, and transparency in pricing.
Factors that affect Kinston Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Kinston, NC. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, as fuel and labor costs increase.
- Vehicle Size and Weight: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than smaller cars due to the space they occupy and their weight.
- Transport Type: Open transport is the most common and affordable option for car shipping to Kinston. Enclosed transport, while more expensive, offers extra protection from weather and road debris, which can be beneficial during North Carolina’s hurricane season.
- Season: Auto transport prices can fluctuate based on the time of year. Summer months and January tend to be busier and more expensive for car shipping in Kinston, NC.
- Route Accessibility: Kinston’s proximity to major highways like US-70 and NC-11 can help keep costs down. However, if your pickup or delivery location is far from these main routes, it may increase the price.
- Vehicle Condition: Operable vehicles are cheaper to ship than inoperable ones. If your car doesn’t start or roll, it will require special equipment for loading, increasing the cost.
- Timing Flexibility: If you can be flexible with your pickup and delivery dates, you may find better rates for car shipping to or from Kinston, NC.
Understanding these factors can help you plan your auto transport to or from Kinston more effectively. For a detailed breakdown of car shipping costs, check out our car shipping calculator guide. Is my vehicle insured transporting to or from Kinston?
Yes, our quotes are all-inclusive. All of our carriers are required to have a minimum of $1,000,000 in liability insurance and $100,000 in cargo insurance. To ship your vehicle, we verify that the carrier’s insurance policy is valid and in good standing for the duration of your shipment.
All contracted carriers also add Sherpa as a Certificate Holder on their insurance policy.

No payment is due at the time of booking. We do require a payment method on file so that it is available to charge once a carrier is secured. We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Mastercard, Visa, Discover and American Express. Reviews from our North Carolina Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied North Carolina customers:
“Setting up the transport with Sherpa was super easy. The only thing was going online. You just put in the information, you can set it up through that, but it made me call anyways, which is fine. It just made it sound like it was gonna be an easy online process. Honestly, calling was probably easier and better because the lady I talked to was great, super helpful, and gave me all the information I needed. The transport from Colorado to North Carolina took about four days. It was a lot faster than I thought it was gonna be. I got a call that they were gonna be able to drop the vehicle off in the third day. The guy had some issues with his truck. So, he just called me and asked if we could do it the next day. It was still a lot faster than I thought it would take. The communication was great. I got updates frequently from them. The driver spoke a little bit of English. So, there was a guy that was communicating for us and that was great because he gave me an update every so often. I heard from him at least twice a day on where they were at. So, I knew when I could expect him to be there. It was a really good experience. As far as the price goes, it was fair.”
“Thank you so much for the fabulous experience we recently had transporting our car with Sherpa. Just as states starting closing down in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our daughter`s car died. She is an ICU nurse at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and would have taken the bus if the social distancing order was not in effect. We had an extra car for her to use in North Carolina but couldn`t get it to her because of the quarantine order in Maryland. When I explained our situation to Fern in your Charlotte office, she was extremely sympathetic and helpful. After three days without a driver taking our route, Sherpa waived its fee and offered its portion of the transport cost in order to give incentive to a driver to deliver our car. A driver was assigned that day, and our daughter received the car the following day. She was grateful beyond words, as were we. Thank you for working to protect our daughter as she is already on the frontline in healthcare. We have spread the word wherever we can about Sherpa`s willingness to look beyond the profit in order to help someone in need.”
“When Sherpa put the bid out, they said they would double or add to the bid if it wasn’t being picked up. So that seemed a little different than the other companies. Setting up the transport was relatively easy. Because I researched other products, I knew the questions to ask, things I couldn`t find online. So, all my questions were answered. The experience was positive. Because of the challenges of where I was located, on the day of the pickup, I met the driver. It was relatively close and in an open parking lot, where I felt safe. So, it wasn`t an issue. The driver did a walk around, pointing out any dings that were already there. And I was there with him as he did it. I also took a video of myself prior to him showing up, just to have that on record. The transport took six days from Washington state to North Carolina. The lowest Sherpa said was four days and the most was nine days. The driver contacted me closer to the day to get a better location for where the large truck would be able to go.”
“This was my first time shipping an auto also. I am a mature woman and I try to be very cautious in my business dealings so initially to say I was concerned would be understating my mindset. But my only other alternative was a trip from North Carolina to Delaware, where the car was located and back – not appealing regardless of the mode of transportation. I finally located my “dream” little sports car in New Castle Delaware. The car is 15 years old in “show room” condition…my concern was that it would not arrive in the same condition. I choose SHERPA Auto Transport after an online search and BBB A+ rating. The company sales personnel were very responsive and professional. I was kept informed via email throughout the process. After the driver was assigned – amazing driver – the vehicle was picked up in Delaware in the late afternoon, June 16th, and arrived at my door the next morning!!! Not a mark on it! I was over joyed!! The process was seamless. I would use this company again and I highly recommend this company!!!”
“This is the 4th year using Sherpa and I could not be happier with them. They provide a 5-day pick-up date but I have yet to wait the whole 5 days. Last Sunday I called to get a quote, and by Tuesday, the car was picked up and by Thursday my son`s car shipped from NC to RI! They are quick to get shipments completed and their communication throughout the whole process is incredible. The drivers are also awesome, I was constantly getting updates from them. Don`t be fooled by other transportation companies, they will give you an estimate a lot lower but will result in a horrible experience. Do yourself a favor and don`t bother with the other companies, Sherpa is honestly the best for your transportation needs.”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Kinston, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of North Carolina. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
