What our Port Arthur customers say about Sherpa:
“I had a very good experience with Sherpa and Kate! I had booked with another highly rated autotransporter in early December for a January 3rd move from Texas to San Diego, and the car had to be there no later than January 9th. Several days before the scheduled pickup, there was still no carrier selected and daily chats just kept saying they would update me when a carrier was selected. On January 3rd, I was told they could meet the delivery deadlines.”
“I was very nervous and worried about shipping my son’s brand new $70,000 truck from San Antonio, Tx to Moody AFB, Ga. My son is in the military and has just been transferred to Moody from being overseas for the past seven years. After going through the top 10 transfer companies and reading the customer comments I picked the Sherpa auto transfer company.”
“I had my daughters car transported from SA, Texas to Idaho and Sherpa is THE BEST!!! Always friendly, informative, and TOP NOTCH customer service!!! The company that they got to transport the car was equally amazing! The gentleman from Horizon Carriers had excellent communication, showed up when he said he would, and was detailed in checking out the car.”

Factors that affect Port Arthur Car Shipping Prices
- Distance: The length of the journey significantly impacts car shipping costs to or from Port Arthur, TX. Longer distances generally mean higher prices, but per-mile rates often decrease for longer trips.
- Transport Type: Open carriers are the most common and cost-effective option for auto transport to Port Arthur. Enclosed trailers offer extra protection but cost about 50% more and may have longer delivery times.
- Vehicle Size: Larger or heavier vehicles, like SUVs or trucks, typically cost more to ship than standard cars due to the space they occupy on the carrier.
- Route Popularity: Port Arthur’s location near major highways like I-10 can affect pricing. More frequent routes often have competitive rates due to higher carrier availability.
- Seasonal Factors: Port Arthur’s humid subtropical climate can influence car shipping prices. Summer months may see higher demand and costs due to more people relocating.
- Fuel Prices: Fluctuations in fuel costs can impact auto transport rates to and from Port Arthur, as carriers adjust their prices accordingly.
- Delivery Timeframe: Expedited shipping to Port Arthur will cost more than standard delivery options. Flexible pickup and delivery dates can often lead to more competitive pricing.

Tips & Tricks for Saving on Vehicle Shipping
- Book early: Schedule your Port Arthur car shipping at least two weeks in advance. This allows carriers to optimize routes and potentially offer discounts for bundling multiple vehicles.
- Choose open transport: Opt for open shipping to get the lowest rates. While enclosed carriers are necessary for some vehicles, open transport offers more flexibility and cost savings.
- Select strategic locations: Work with Sherpa Auto Transport advisors to find pickup and dropoff points near major highways like I-10 or US-69. This can significantly reduce fuel costs and overall shipping expenses.
- Empty your vehicle: Remove all personal items from your car before shipping. This reduces weight and potential liability issues during transport.
- Be flexible with dates: Offering a range of pickup and delivery dates can help you secure better rates. Consider weekdays for potentially lower prices compared to weekends.
- Consider terminal-to-door or door-to-terminal: While Sherpa doesn’t offer terminal-to-terminal services, choosing either terminal-to-door or door-to-terminal options can sometimes reduce costs compared to full door-to-door service.

Reviews from our Texas Customers
We pride ourselves on excellent customer service, as evidenced by our 4.9 rating with over 8,000 reviews. Here are a few more reviews from satisfied Texas customers:
“I had an Audi that I bought from my brother that was in Texas and we had to move it from Longview to Galt, California. I reached out to Sherpa and I didn`t have any problems. Their rep told me what to expect and who they`d be in contact with. So, I gave my brother`s information then they were in contact with him and made all the arrangements on that end. They told me in advance the paperwork that we would need, so I made sure that he had all that in place and it went pretty smoothly.”
“My youngest was in college in Michigan and a family that had befriended him had fallen on hard times. Their daughter was his roommate and she needed a car for her summer work program because she had to drive to get this internship. I just bought a new car and I had my old one that was still in very good shape. I didn`t need it and I don`t really need the money for it. I said that I`d give it to her but I couldn`t drive it up there. I was already going to fly it there to help him move. I found Sherpa and they had a really nice arrangement where we paid an upfront cost for them to find a driver and she just had to pay the driver. It was a really good thing for me because I wanted her commitment to pay something for the vehicle. It was a reasonable amount. That worked out really well for me. Sherpa was very helpful and easy to communicate with. The driver was very polite, courteous, and prompt. He got here on time and called me. He dropped off the vehicle and it was fine. I was very happy with the service. It was my first-time experience transporting a vehicle. I did it online and Sherpa came back promptly with a good price. I had contacted four other companies and some of them didn`t even respond. The ones that did were very, “Well, we`ll let you know,” that kind of thing. Sherpa was very good at getting me a price, “This is what it`s gonna cost.” It was getting closer to the deadline and they`d given me a window and they were still within the window. It was just so much was going on so I was a little nervous. I called Sherpa and at the time, you get an answering service thing because they get a lot of calls. I didn`t have time to wait. They called me right back and said, “We still haven`t found a driver for you, but we`ll get you something right now.” They didn`t realize I was anxious. They had a lot of information on their website. They were very prompt and they allayed my fears and said, “We haven`t found anyone yet, but if you need a name right now, we`ll get you one.” It worked out really well. In the payment way, the driver that they got wanted a little more cash so they reduced their fee that they would take from my card. But the problem was the young lady that was receiving the car only had so much cash and she`s a student. I said, “Well, look, can I just pay that difference to the driver upfront?” They said that was fine. When the driver came, I said, “I`ll give you the cash and then you can just email that you got the money.” He sent me a text that this was received so I had a record. That made me feel comfortable that he received that cash. When he arrived, he just took the additional cash from the young lady I was sending the car to. They were flexible and honest about the transaction. I would encourage people to use Sherpa. To drive the car would have cost me just as much money with hotel stays and gas. The stress would have been so much more too. You have to drive it 1,800 miles for three days and it would have been terrible. Sherpa delivered the car right when they said they were going to deliver it.”
“I found Sherpa very open and honest about the entire process, how they find drivers, what kind of insurance they have, what to expect, and what to watch out for. I like that they were very upfront with me about everything. Also, the rep was very patient in answering all my questions. I reserved a date but I told them I wasn`t sure what my exact date would be. I wanted a week to week flexibility so they did that. They put it on hold so they wouldn`t find a driver till I was ready to ship the car. The pickup and delivery were very smooth. The driver called us and told me when he got delayed a little because of traffic. He texted me several times to tell me how far he was. He couldn`t drive up right to my house because of the trees that we have and he told me that he didn`t want to risk the cars getting scratched, which was very nice. I appreciated that. We found a place where it was open and he could pull up without causing damage to anything. It was pretty well-organized and he knew what he was doing. He did the walkthrough with me, all of the pre-conditions when he picked up and then when he dropped off. It was a good experience.”
“Sherpa had one of the easiest websites to navigate, and then they recognized right away that with my vehicle, they couldn`t give me a quote online. They told me to call. Other websites gave me a quote and then changed it later because they realized the dimensions are not quite the same. So, I appreciated the straightforwardness of Sherpa. It was super easy to schedule a pickup. My car got there in less time than I thought it would take, and then my parents on the other end said it was really easy to pick it up and it was painless. So, everything was pretty easy. Communication with the driver was not too much, thank goodness, because I wouldn`t have wanted too much either. He called me when he was about an hour away, and then he called me when he arrived. Then, on the other end, he called my parents when he was about an hour away. He got there the night before, so he called my mom the next morning and my mom was able to go and pick it up that morning at her convenience. Overall, Sherpa was easy to book and there weren`t any surprises. Everything was very clear and straightforward and I`d use Sherpa again.”
“I retained Sherpa Auto Transport to transport a SUV from TX to NJ. I opted for a flexible 5 day window pick up and open transport. They weren`t the cheapest but they weren`t the most expensive either. I went with them because they had a $100k cargo insurance and provided reimbursement for a car cleaning 2 weeks from drop off. The deposit and final payment was all relayed by credit card, which was convenient. After a deposit was made, they sent my order to dispatch to match with a driver. I made the initial order 2 weeks before pick up and was assigned a driver a few days before the start of my pick up window. The driver contacted me the night before pick up of their expected arrival time. When they arrived, we walked around the car to confer the condition of the vehicle and they took the vehicle to load onto their trailer. It took about a week and they had a local driver drop off at the destination who also walked through the condition of the car. It was nice, simple, easy, and they were communicative. Would definitely recommend and use again if necessary!”

What is Car Shipping?
Car shipping, also known as auto transport or vehicle transport, is a specialized service provided by car shipping companies to move vehicles from one location to another. Whether you’re buying or selling a car online, relocating to a new home in Port Arthur, or needing to transport a vehicle abroad, car shipping companies have the expertise and equipment to handle the job safely and efficiently. These companies use specialized carriers and trailers to ensure your vehicle is transported securely, giving you peace of mind throughout the process.
About the Car Shipping Industry
Car shipping is a fascinating industry. There are Carriers – the businesses that pickup and transport vehicles – and there are Brokers – the businesses that help Carriers source their customers. Carriers are primarily mom & pop small businesses who own and operate their trucks and trailers – many of whom own and operate their businesses out of Texas. This means there are thousands of carriers and this fragmentation creates a need for centralization. That’s why Carriers rely on Brokers – like Sherpa – to help optimize their loads and source business for them. Sherpa vets Carriers and has a strict list of requirements for any Carrier looking to do business with Sherpa Auto Transport.
